Today, Jay's second youngest sister called to talk with him. Naressia wanted us to know, their father had to be transported to a nursing home. Dad kept falling and his face is bruised up, but thank heavens, he didn't break any bones. She told us that he's very contented, in his new home. Jay's father turned 90 this year, so we weren't at all shocked by this news. He has been going down-hill, for about two years now. We will be heading down to Alabama to visit Dad, for 'Father's Day.' This will put a smile on his face:) Picture: borrowed from Pixabay

@amadeo Jay's father isn't able to reason soundly. He gets confused, about simple things. He'd sit all day long, if nobody asked him to get up.

It is better that he is in a place where he has care and supervision.

Aw, so sorry he has been falling and getting hurt! It is good he's not complaining about his new home though! And even better that we'll be visiting soon!

We knew Dad was failing, but Naressia lives close-by and she checks on their father, often.

I'm sorry your father-in-law has had to go into a nursing home but glad he is contented there. Sometimes, with good care, regular meals and company older people get a new lease of life - not saying he hasn't had those things up to now of course but when older people have been battling along on their own, it does sometimes make a difference.

He was living with his youngest daughter, but she's away at work most days. It got to be too much, with her full-time job and worrying about him falling down, also. His mind is going, so he can't be left alone.

@CookieMonster46 He's very happy, where they've place him. Dad is visiting with others, he's clean, and his medication is given regularly. The meals are nicely served, he's very well cared for.

I am glad that he likes the nursing home. It will be best for him if he is having mobile difficulties. I know that the family will feel a lot better as well.

When they turn their back, he falls down. It's important that he gets 24 hour nursing care, at this time.

Yes, he's getting more feeble minded and he hasn't been eating right. Now, they are fixing three meals a day, so he's being well cared for:) Naressia stops in to visit him, each day.

@Tina30219 We are heading down for 'Father's Day,' to give Dad a special visit. Jay hasn't been close to him, for quite a while. With forgiveness and tons of kindness, everything will soon be resolved, between them:)

It is sad that some don't do well as they get older. At least there is a safe place for Jay's father to get the attention he will need @kobesbuddy

He will be so much safer in a nursing home. I am glad he is contented. My dad had a host of medical emergencies, and since being in a nursing home, Dad has been doing very well for someone who has made it to age 97.

I'm so thankful they are both very accepting, of the 24 hr nursing care, they need. Jay's dad isn't angry in the least bit, plus, he's socializing with other residents. We are very pleased, that he's doing well.
