Pain Relievers

Pain relievers are fine if just used every once in awhile. When you use aspirins and other pain relievers to often they can cause digestive problems and internal bleeding. Some are toxic to the kidney and your liver. Many people are turning to natural pain relievers that will not do harm to the inside of your body. I will be doing more posts on which natural pain relievers to use.

One of my liver levels were high back in February when I got bloodwork done for my yearly physical, due to having the flu two weeks before and taking tylenol for the chest pain I had from coughing alot. Which i never knew could happen til then.

Pain is caused by inflammation in many cases and so relieving that will often relieve the ache. Peppermint is a good natural source to use when trying to get rid of inflammation. I try to be as natural as I can with things including going without pain relievers or doing exercises / eating certain foods to help relieve whatever pain I am in.

@hereandthere Yes. Peppermint tea is good for toothaches, stomach aches, and I haven't tried it for headaches but I am sure it works there too.

We do our best here, not taking too much of anything, even supplements.

@hereandthere nah! A few iron tablets now and then because the doctor ordered us to do so, but other than that, we have a healthy diet here. No point to kill our kidneys and livers unnecessary.

I cannot take aspiring, it's too bad for my stomach. I only take Ibuprofen time by time if really needed.

Hi Judy. I do not take much pain relievers. Only when necessary as I do not want to depend on those.

Cinnamon is also a good anti-inflammatory. When I had back issues I would max out the dosage of Tylenol I could take a day. They have eased up, knock on wood, and now I mainly take them when I have headaches.

They have turmeric powder for cooking that you can add to your food to help.

@jstory07 ...We always use turmeric powder while cooking vegetables but I heard it is better to consume raw turmeric with mild warm milk by extracting turmeric juice and mixing with milk adding two or three tea spoonful honey in it. PC : live strong. com

@jstory07 I have been taking them many many years now and will be 68. I think to me they are the least of my worries. My chronic rhinitis and my cough I get are what I worry about.

@jstory07 it is not good to take pain reliever right away. it is still better to have been checked by a doctor before you take medicines.

I don't take anything unless I really can't handle the pain from my back. I have a lot of pills I need to dispose of because they are so old now and I have never used them.

I try to avoid them! I usually try a caffeine drink first for a headache. If it doesn't work I reluctantly take one if my head is really killing me!

@jstory07 Yes, but I really hate having to. Sometimes a little nap helps too! Usually people don't just get a headache for no reason. something triggered it and I just try to find that something first!

It is not good to be in constant pain, but it is better to find the source and eliminate it than it is too take too much of anything.
