Was a success. I realized before this I had never set foot in the Pacific Ocean, so I can chuck that off my non existant bucket list. I stayed with my friend and her 2 year old daughter right on the beach. The hotel itself wasnt amazing but did have a jacuzzi and pool whichw we enjoyed. We went to the beach, walked and walked on the boardwalk, went swimming, went to the san diego zoo, and ate lots of food. Which I am assuming was good, but this dang head cold os preventing me from tasting much of anything.
The zoo was cool and huge but I am not sure if worth the $50 entrance fee.
The flight home was delayed by 2 hours which caused me to chill at the airport for a little longer tha Id like.
It all was good though and I would go back in a heartbeat! What have you all been up to lately? Any trips planned?

$50 is about right. Costs way more than that for places like Disneyland.

There was a time I dreamed of going to some beaches and just walking along the shoreline, any shoreline really... Then suddenly I noticed that I lived very close to plenty of beaches (I was dumb, right? ). And I did just that, jumped on some buses, sat there for about 10 minutes, voilĂ ... (Some places charge lots for entrance fee. My daughter and I were just talking about this yesterday.)

@MALUSE Slightly sarcastic. We experience winter from about October well into April this year. (Usually only until March). Snow, below freezing temperatures keeps us indoors for almost half of the year!! On the other hand, summer is fantastic (although humid). We have thousands of lakes and many rivers, great places to canoe, kayak, swim and camp. And fish/hunt. Some beautiful state parks in the northern part of the state, including ones right on Lake Superior, one of the Great Lakes (and as I call it the ocean of Minnesota). The landscape during the summer is just beautiful and green!

$50??? Whoa, that's expensive. I hope they've grown bigger since I was there in the 70's when it cost less than $10 per person. I loved the zoo. Did you also get out to Sea World? What beach were you on? San Diego is a nice place to visit. I lived there during the 70's.

Wow 50 dollars for a zoo entrance fee?? That is steep. I was in the Pacific when I went to Hawaii. I thought the water was surprisingly cold.

San Diego zoo is world famous. $50 is quite expensive but I am sure the upkeep of the zoo is very expensive. It is nearly as expensive as London zoo which is much smaller. I hope you had a very enjoyable day there!

$50 to get in the zoo is not bad at all. It costs that much just to visit the top of the Empire State Building in New York City.

I didn't know you were going on another trip. This one sounds exciting, but sad you've got a cold and couldn't taste much.

@maezee least you've had some fun and nice trips lately! You can hold onto those memories, and at least think of where to go next.

I am planning a trip to Ireland this fall, in between I am going to Vermont to visit family, down to our cottage in Pennsylvania and meeting friends in Western Connecticut for an overnight.
