Do you save for retirement?. / myLot

I got talking to a friend. I have a RRSP but I also have a savings account. I put $200 every month for retirement. She doesn't and at 50 she will not be retiring only what she paid off her pay cheque (which won't even cover rent a month).

I paid into a 401K for forty years and so did my husband. We also saved money in savings to more to Oregon. We had enough saved to get here and buy what we needed,

I'm thinking the 401k is like RRSP. She has nothing. I know many my age who have nothing. It's scary especially when the government so unstable.
