We took a train from New Jersey to Broadway

I wanted a local train experience and we got an opportunity to do that when I wanted to watch a show at Broadway
Trains in the US are so different from what we have here in India. Everything is automatic and at every station announcements are made so that passengers know they have reached their destination.
The show at Broadway was a flop as I made a bad choice but was happy that I got to see a show at Broadway about which I had read so much.
Eating in restaurants at peak hours in NY is not something I would recommend to anyone as we had to stand in a 'Q' for hours

I did not expect it until we experienced it - for the first time

@allknowing @marlina That's one good thing about travelling out of season. There are less tourists and places are not so crowded so less queues too.

This was a few years ago - just something brought me back to this memory. But my stay in the US was memorable in all spheres.

It is living the experience that matters most. I hope you still got a buzz from what you did! I am sure you would have done!

It indeed it was a great experience. Whenever I have been on holidays abroad I do that. I even visited a fish market.

What play did you see? Our trains do announce each upcoming station. You can take one from New York to visit me in Connecticut. Glad you had the Broadway experience. I don't enjoy waiting in lines, but more so my husband. We make reservations whenever we can, since some mighty fine restaurants are very difficult to get into in NYC.

The play was 'Betrayal'. And about making reservations we do that even here but this was just after the show - we just go in to a place that was close by.

Betrayal uses reverse chronology to tell the story of Robert, whose wife, Emma, is having an affair with his friend Jerry, a literary agent. ...

@allknowing I don't remember that play, but everyone must go to Broadway when in New York City. Those post theater restaurants get overly crowed after shows.

@allknowing I think Lion King would have been a much better choice. The one I chose was The Adams Family which was also a musical. Travel safely.

I always think it is so odd when I hear an Indian describing differences between things in India and in America.
Until I met all my Indian friends here on myLot and they started telling me about the differences, I had always assumed things were more or less the same in both countries. (No, I am not an avid world news watcher. I rarely watch news for my country, let alone news from the rest of the world.)
I am sorry the show you watched wasn't as good as it should have been, Grace.
Everything in New York is crowded! Pretty insisted on dragging me through some of the suburbs of New York when I picked her up to bring her home after college. I would have been happy to skip the experience.
After waiting in the queue, was the food, at least, up to your expectations?
