They were wearing balaclavas!

About 4am this morning, I was awake and watching TV until I heard rumbling. I knew straight away that someone was jumping over the fence. I live in units so I have a unit to the left of me, and two other units facing me. There is a big fence near our units. On the other side of that fence are some small stores. ( Doctors, Pharmacy, Fish & Chips, Pet Groomer, Deli and a few others ). Sometimes kids will jump over this fence because they are too lazy to walk around the wall that surrounds our units. Anyway, 4am I hear that familiar sound. I peep out of the window and my neighbour's security light ( neighbour on left of my house ) turns on. So I can clearly see a young man wearing all black. His head was down and I thought I couldn't make out his face due to shadows. As I'm trying to watch him, another young man jumps the fence. He too was wearing black but by this time I understood why I couldn't see their faces. They were wearing balaclavas! I could feel my heart pounding because no one dresses like this unless they are about to do something wrong. I don't know what their intentions were while being on this side of the fence but I saw them walking towards my neighbours house. I ran to the kitchen to grab the house phone to call the police and explained what I saw. I couldn't tell if they were going to attempt to break in because there's only so much I can see with a wall in my way. I had also woken up my brother to tell him and I had turned on both the back lights and front lights as if to say "People are awake." Not long after I heard really loud banging and I knew what this was too. The deli near my house has been a target for so many years. People try to come in from the roof. So the noises I was hearing was the men trying to break in. Sirens and alarms were going off in the deli. I was sitting in my loungeroom near the front door keeping an eye out. I saw red and blue lights so the police were over there. I don't know if they got caught. I'm hoping so. Although our units were not broken into, it still scared the heck out of me. I've never seen anyone wearing balaclavas before. On TV yes but not in real life and it made my heart pound. I'm still confused as to why they jumped on this side of the fence when their target was on the other side. The only damage they did do on this side, was squashed my neighbours flowers. Because the dude had used the pot plant to stand on. Hope they got caught!

@Daljinder I have no clue actually. I'm annoyed to say that the cops never came to my house to check on me and neighbours. They only went around to the deli on the other side of fence ( I saw them drive there ). I'm hoping they found them because if they didn't, then the cops didn't come to check the other side to see if we were all ok.

Hi Dani. I would have panicked or got scared if I saw a man wearing balaclavas (which actually is the first time I have heard of it ). Maybe they want to confuse people that is why they passed the other side. I hope they are caught and deserved to be jailed for the damages and the trauma.

@mlgen1037 I was literally shaking lol I thought the worst like them breaking in attacking our neighbours or us. I hope they got caught too as it annoys me when people get away with things.

@VivaLaDani13 That is understandable as we do not know what will happen next. Glad you and your brother are safe. Hopefully they are too. It is not nice being scared at night with those people lurking around.

@mlgen1037 Exactly. It was no fun at all. I honestly was too scared to breathe or move at one point because I didn't know if they were really close to the house.

Perhaps their original intent was to break in at the housing units but when they saw your lights they changed their mind and went to the deli. Please let us know that they got caught.

@GardenGerty Could have been. Not too sure. My dad was thinking perhaps they were checking out all the ways they could run and hide if anyone was trying to catch them. Really not sure though.

a sure way to be arrested here is to wear a balaclava. Our face must be visible all the time, no matter the hour of the day and the weather.[ I hope they get caught.

@LadyDuck I'm not too sure how far it goes here but I do know that you're not allowed to cover your face when entering a bank. But not sure if this applies elsewhere. I hope they get caught too.

@VivaLaDani13 Two men were arrested last week because they were going to the cinema dressed like "Deadpool". Silly young men.

@VivaLaDani13 I know, you did a good job calling the cops though but I would have stayed inside. You never know if they would be psycho enough to come to your apt if they ran from the cops.

@cintol Oh exactly right! It's why I was terrified. I was having the worst images coming into my mind when I first saw them. I am sickened by what goes on nowadays. The bad news of people being robbed, hurt, killed etc is never ending!
