A Big Problem

Night before last I went into our bathroom and water was dripping down from our ceiling. No one was in the office so we couldn't get maintainance until they came in yesterday morning. Someone rushed to our apartment then went to the apartment overhead. He was back in a few minutes. Nothing was wrong up there. So he brought in a ladder and chopped a big hole in our ceiling, still couldn't find a thing.
I had pans in the floor trying to catch the drips but the water was too scattered. I mopped the floor but it didn't help for long. The long and short of it was that they had to call a plumber. The office sent us a key for a guest apartment so we packed and spent the night there. I intended to get on mylot with my iPad but there was no wifi which was a drag.
We came back to our apt. This morning hoping the plumber had corrected the problem but he still hasn't arrived. I have an appointment with my dentist and we must drive up there soon. I'm wondering now if the plumber will get here today. Water is still dripping and I'm feeling anxious.

Gee that sounds like a mess with water dripping. Hope the plumber arrives and gets it all fixed for you and that it isn't a big problem.

@RubyHawk
Do the plumbers usually take that long or is perhaps he has a lot of work going on?
Over here we are used to them taking their time which is most always what happens.
Fingers crossed it get sorted out real pronto.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I believe they have a lot of work backed up. We could use more plumbers. I can't remember the last time we needed one.

At some point, ALL pipes will break or leak, so it completely baffles me that water and sewer pipes are still built in overhead ceilings, instead of run under the concrete floor slab or outside of the building. I feel horrible that this has happened to you, and I hope that they are able to get it fixed quickly for you.

I know how you feel since a few months ago there was water leaking from the roof of the home until the landlady had the problem fixed recently.

@Deepizzaguy Can't they fix it? When the plumber got here it didn't take long to fix it.

@amitkokiladitya All that is lacking is the ceilings being replaced. They will do that tomorrow.

The maintenance guy did all he could but he's not a plumber. They had to call a plumber but he didn't get the leak fixed. He'll be back in the morning and we're trying to decide if we want to stick it out here or go to the guest apt.

Water dripping from a higher apartment is a common issue and it is not easy to fix at times.
I had the issue in both bathrooms and they had to relay the floor and make it waterproof.
It was quite a messy affair for a couple of days.
Hope you are able to get it done soon - siva

What a pain that is. How odd that the plumber could nor find the source.

That is another reason I did not buy an apartment complex when I had the opportunity. I hope its all finished when you get back home.
