A Lovely View of Lake Huron

After lunch today, I took a drive to Lake Huron and took my cheap camera along for the ride. My motive was, to get a couple nice shots this beautiful lake on a nice day. Yes, the sky is quite cloudy and a strong wind was blowing, also. But I was still able to get a couple nice pictures, that I really like. Even when I moved away from East Tawas and lived in Bay City for ten years, I was still situated not too far from this lake, except on the opposite shoreline. So I've lived near this fresh water lake, for over sixty years. I am ashamed to say, at times I've driven along side it and never paid any attention. Quite often we don't appreciate a blessing such as this one, until its gone:( Picture: taken by me

Hi Kharla. I do agree with you. Before it is too late, appreciate the things you have. I like that photo. So calm and serene.

You're so right about not appreciating beauty until we move away. We can used to things very quickly. People always remark on how bright the stars are at our place, probably because there are no other lights competing with them. But I rarely looked up at night unless someone mentioned the stars. I take time to admire them now though.

Our friends live about five miles out in the country, on acreage. When we visit them, it seems like we could reach up and touch those stars, they appear to be so close!

@kobesbuddy That's how it is here some nights - or at least at home.

That is true that you do not appreciate the small things that make our world better until they are gone. Like some good people close to me who went home to their Maker.

@kobesbuddy I'd love to watch that. Unfortunately, I have no water to speak of nearby. I used to live on the banks of a big river in my youth and I miss the wide, open water.

@MALUSE I have so taken this lovely body of water, for granted:( Many parts of the world, there's a lack for a source of fresh water!

It gives the impression that it goes on for miles and miles and miles. I don't begrudge your not looking at the Lake every time. You get so used to things like this that you forget to appreciate it's beauty.

@kobesbuddy There is a river that I got so used to crossing over atleast weekly that I never thought to admire it. The view isn't very stunning (not like your picture) but it has it's beauty all the same.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I did the same thing living in Bay City. We crossed that river every day, but seldom even bothered to look.

Thanks, where I parked my car, I easily could have driven onto the beach. But who wants to get stuck in two feet of sand? LOL
