Torrential as in TORRENTS of rain!

Well that was some scary rain tonight. It came in sideways sheets and almost flooded our balcony. They did predict a summer thunderstorm but that could have been the strongest 20 minutes of plummeting rain I ever did see. There was little lightning and thunder just really hard hitting rain that immediately caused the curb of the street below to be flooded and the cars had trouble turning the corner. Wow! haven't seen rain like that ever. The good news- it ended quickly and just continued raining normally but had it stayed, I would have witnessed a flash flood in the making. Back to normal now, but that was a little frightening for sure. Pixabay free image

@MarymargII I don't know, do all those Canadian snowstorms in the wintertime make for an exciting life in Toronto? haha I guess it could be fun. For example, when my girlfriend and I were driving home from the beach yesterday, we played a game to see if we could dodge all the thunderstorms and make it home without getting stuck in one of those thunderstorms. {we did not succeed}

@moffittjc Not really cause you are supposed to drive SLOWLY in a snowstorm to keep from skidding and wiping out on the road- :(

We had torrential rain during three days. We had no damages but some places in the north of Switzerland suffered serious damages. Let's hope it's over now.

@MarymargII The weather is becoming more and more extreme. Yesterday in Italy two women were trapped inside their car after a scary downpour. They were crossing using an under passage and there were 2 meters of water. They have been saved by the firefighters.

@LadyDuck You see, that's when it really becomes dangerous. I agree with you on that- more extreme in many places.

We need that kind of rain here. I'm glad it didn't last too long and turned into a normal rain.

@MarymargII I was caught in a torrential downpour once. I was on the bus and it was really coming down. As soon as I got off the bus at my stop, I was drenched to the bone.

With rain like that, you're left wondering where it can be coming from. I'm glad it was short-lived.

Yes, I really can't remember rain with that much power for a long, long time. For a short time I wonder if it was like hurricane strength.

I'm happy it didn't last too long or cause flooding. The rains in Florida never cease to amaze me. They are so different than the rains here in New England.
