we just got rid of ours..the expense wasn't worth it,especially when everyone in the house now has cell phones. well, except for mom..but she was part of the problem. my mother is getting quite gullible with believing people who call without question.. a scam artist's wet dream. i caught her the one day about to give out info that could have been bad for her.when i asked her who was calling, she said so and so.. i took the phone and hung it up,told her there are scams and you can't believe phone calls blindly. i was afraid she'd answer one of those while i was at work..so i told my brother just get rid of it before she does something stupid. i make her calls for her anyway.we no longer need it.

i thought i was gonna have to do the same because of my father, good thing my mother told him that if he ever answers the phone again, she was going to knock him out with an uppercut.

It's always good to only have a conversation over the phone to someone we knew .

Makes sense to get rid of it in your case! So many people are getting rid of their landlines. Almost everyone has a cell phone now. We do still have a landline so when I am out my kids can call me if they need.

Are you not restricting her freedom? She is aged. She may like to have some talk with near and dear. She needs some privacy. No doubt you help her. Instead of this, can't you tell her the problems and leave her freely?

As they say, prevention is always better than cure. We will never know what they may be up to.
