A Trip to the Post Office

About two weeks ago, my kids and I went to the local post office. Our subdivision has its own and I'm thankful that we do, because I think it's so convenient to have one. Anyway, my seven-year-old daughter wrote a letter for her best friend and wanted to send it through post. I offered to send it through a private courier so it can be delivered in 24 hours. But my daughter said she'd rather have the letter posted with stamps and all and that she doesn't mind the long delivery time. So off we went to the post office. My daughter sealed the envelope and glued the stamps herself. She was so happy to have done something like that, and I'm equally proud of her. I love writing and sending handwritten letters myself, and I did exchange letters with friends for more than half of my life. I just hope her friend writes her back through post. It's so uncommon for people now to send handwritten letters and send them via post. Do you still visit your local post office? (Image by Pixabay)

@almostoveryou I hope that she gets a reply too. How far away does her friend live? Yes, there are things I still do at the post office.

Friend says she never got the letter. And she's just about an hour's drive from our house. Sad.

@almostoveryou I understand that one. Here in Israel at one time our mail delivery service was fine but now it is horrible. I mailed something registered to a friend and he never got it and what he mailed to me I never got. Just recently I mailed 3 things outside the country and one person got and the others did not. So that can happen that your friend did not get the letter.

Unfortunately, our local post offices are starting to die. It has been a long time that I haven't been to the post office.

You are right. People now would rather just send messages through gadgets and devices, of course. But you know what? I'm happy that every time I visit the post office, I still see loads of mail on their tables. Parcels, even. :)

I'm thankful that some of our friends and relatives still bother to send us holiday cards. My girls love to read and look at greeting cards, and they're very interested in postage stamp designs.

I usually don't feel like visiting post office. I don't have anything to do there.

I guess most people nowadays have the same valid reason.

I understand that it's no longer a necessity as much as it used to be.
