It Sure Is Noisy

I'm sure it is in winter too, but with all the windows open in the apartment, I can hear all the sounds from outside with crystal clarity. It's the same with car windows. You never notice the noise until you roll them down in summer. In winter, I don't notice the flow of traffic like I do in summer, or as soon as I open the windows. I don't mind the noise. It has it's own calming and tranquil effect on the mind. Though, I do stop to listen when the ambulance and fire trucks go by, which is several times a day, and the occasional police car with its siren blaring. Mostly though, it's normal traffic. I do live on one of the busier streets, so there is always a lot of traffic happening outside my windows. The pictures were taken in a matter of several seconds. Thanks for reading.

Same here. I had to close my window yesterday before I usually do because the maintenance guys were working on the sliding glass doors next door. Being very loud. Some people's voices are so loud. We also have a busy street about a block and a half away. ALways rather noisy.

@just4him This morning at the time you can make noise there was loud hammering and it sounded like it was coming from inside the building. It was from this house that is in front our our building. It seems like they are fixing it up. It was very noisy and when I closed the door to the porch it was quieter. Sophie was in her hiding place. For her that would be very loud for her ears.

@Hannihar I'm sure she appreciated the quiet having the door closed caused, but I bet she preferred being outside.

@just4him I think that is why she stayed in her hiding place so long. When I closed the door to the porch it was quiet. They stopped after awhile.

I live in a development, and there is very little noise. There is very little fuss. The most you see is people jogging, walking, walking their dog or riding a bike.

At least you are able to get those windows open. Where I am right now it's too not and we have to keep the darned air on. Hate that. But it is what it is. Living in Wisconsin we did not have to use the air nearly as much.

I live in a quiet close and the only traffic would be neighbours or employed workmen. There is a green area of grass next to my bungalow which is known as doggy corner. I like to listen to wild birds singing. I don't like the sound of traffic passing and I have never liked to live on a busy road. When I was a child my parents lived on a busy road and it was in a valley. Hills were around it in every single direction. In my adult life I was pleased when my mum sold that house. She bought a bungalow in a quiet location however unlike mine it has steps.

We moved from the middle of a dirt road with ten acres to right beside a busy street. It is very different for us and when we first moved it irritated me to no end. We have been here for over 6 months now and I am getting accustomed to it.

i enjoy watching vehicles passing by when it is raining. but not when it is summer. the noise of the horns blowing too does not give me relaxation; otherwise, with just the motor running, it somehow induces me to nap

Enjoy your day! That sounds like a busy road. It took me forever to get use to the city sounds when I lived in one! Here at most to really hear anything is waterfalls/rushing water when it rains/or after, roosters, goats, and occasional sounds from other livestock in the distance. A lot of birds and the wind chimes!

I used to make it a habit to try to pray for people involved whenever I heard the emergency sirens. Not many here at all, so I do not.

Before I moved here, I lived three blocks from the hospital and one block off the main street, so I could hear those sirens a lot too. Because we were close to the hospital, another thing I saw a lot was the airlift helicopter heading for the hospital.

Although I live in the country, there is a busy road and the road is bad so I head the cars hit those bumps, it drives me crazy at night. I have complained, they fill the holes and it makes the sound even louder.
