Six more days until the Solstice

Canada
June 15, 2018 12:08pm CST
Do you celebrate the Solstice on the 21st of June? In the Northern Hemisphere the Solstice in June marks the first day of summer and is the longest day of the year. In the Southern Hemisphere it is the Winter Solstice and marks the first day of winter. (The shortest day of the year) I dont particularly celebrate this day. I go outside and watch the sun set at 10pm, but after this day, the sun will make it's journey back to the Southern Hemisphere and the days will get shorter and shorter. I imagine those who live in Australia and other Southern Hemisphere countries will celebrate, as for them it means the return of the sun, longer days and Spring and Summer weather. How do you feel about/celebrate the Solstice?

Hi Lucinda. I do not remember our country celebrating Solstice but maybe there are people who do. Not sure though.

I always celebrate the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere. (Dec 21st) That's when the sun begins to make its return again to us for longer days and summer weather.

Never have celebrated it. Half the time I forget it's even the first day of summer. :)

I dislike summer because it gets so hot here. But I do acknowledge the solstice.
