I'm in the closet every day

I've mentioned a few days ago that I want to clean out my closets. There are quite a few that could use a clean out if not just a reorganization. I figured I would start with my own closet and go from there. I need to get things together for a Goodwill (cheap donation shop / not quite charity shop) run and I've made a plan of action for it. It would be too much to clean out all closets and then do a big run. Instead I am going to clean out one closet at a time and do a goodwill run after each clean out. I've still got to make the goodwill run but I've atleast started getting rid of things I can simply throw away. I need to find the best solution to storing a lot of hangers as well. If anyone has a good idea on that please let me know. I may end up just using an empty plastic container but I'm open to other suggestions. Once my closet is cleaned out I will be putting atleast one piece of furniture inside it. I will also be putting a piece of furniture in the place of the (current) dresser now. That will be something to consider over time, but I am leaning more towards a small upholstered chair or a DIY reading type nook.

I am doing similar. I had bought a wardrobe for our bedroom, for me. It was overpowering. It will, however, make a good "coat closet" for winter coats and it has drawers for gloves, scarves and hats. It feels good to make more room.

I think it's therapeutic to rearrange things and get rid of things. I try to do as much of that as I can here but I can't do everything I wish I could.

My bedroom is cluttered because of so much furniture in it. I would like to get rid of some of the pieces that hold items that don't actually belong to me. I hope I will be able to do that over the next couple of months. I'd also like to get a bed frame. right now my mattress and box spring sit on the floor.

I've been thinking of doing the very same thing although in my case it would be clothes as I have so many I don't wear now and that my granddaughter has grown out of. I put all my old clothes in bin liners.

@ScribbledAdNauseum We have a company that pays us to fill bags with clothes. They weigh it and give us the cash accordingly. Yes it helps to have a light so you can see what you are doing.

@sprite1950 The overhead light is sufficient but it also makes the room too warm for my liking. A light in the closet would be better. How lucky you have a company that pays you to fill bags with clothes. We have a few clothes consignment shops but they don't really pay all that well. I am not even sure if they are still around because I haven't been in ages. They only take clothes that you could find at the mall, not anything from a discount store.

I have clothes I need to get rid of as well. I've been putting them in a bag to be donated but I do have more. I also need to rearrange the clothes in my dresser. I have one two drawer dresser dedicated to clothes I haven't worn but might wear. I haven't yet so those need to go as well. I am thinking of adding a light to the closet as well.

I put so many hangers together and used bread tied to hold them together, then placed them inside a container, but I have so many I think I will give some away. I have cleaned my closets already, however, I need to redo one with organizing. I am not happy with how I put the stuff.

I have two of these plastic things that are meant to keep a stack of hangers but I have so many. There are some that aren't even in closets. I don't want to give them away because at one point in time we are going to need them. I rearrange things atleast once a year, I like to keep things fresh. Closets aren't things I usually rearrange though.

We're -still- getting ready for the remodel. I am so tired of packing stuff up and getting rid of stuff.

It will all be worth it once the remodel is done. I hate the process but love the reward.

@Telynor Atleast it's a good way to purge items you no longer need or use. I could stand to do a lot more purging of things than I actually do.

I had my closet de cluttered not so long ago. Around end of last year if i'm not mistaken? I put up a garage sale for those that can be sold including other items in the house. I shared about the garage sale here on mylot, some went to charity and those that were of no good went to the trash.

My closet in my room hasn't been decluttered in years. I got rid of some things only to put more in. I haven't been able to put much clothes in the closet and so I really do need to do some more decluttering to get rid of the rest.

I think that it is a good way to donate some items. I am pretty sure that people who will receive them.

Some of it will be craft supplies. Other things will be children's books and coloring books. There are some things in the closet I didn't even realize was there.

Good to not do too much in one shot.

I have counted atleast three boxes (cardboard) full of tools. I need to go through a box of books and donate the ones I will never read and that are still good enough to be donated. There are model cars on the top of the closet, my best friend's dad might have fun with those. Some of them are halfway done though. I got rid of two things today (went to goodwill). If I can get rid of the tools I will be halfway there.

Good Luck. Maybe do what you can now and make notes for things you can do once your arm is better.
