Most fans of the movie already know that Bosco chocolate syrup was what was used for blood in the shower scene. It showed up better in black and white. But, there are several other things that I found interesting and wanted to share: Poor Janet Leigh. The shower scene had such an effect on her when she saw it that she would lock all the doors and windows in her home and leave the bathroom and show doors open whenever she could bring herself to take a shower. Hitchcock had such a problem with Paramount during filming that he had to pretty much finance the movie himself to get it done. He ended up getting 60% ownership of the film. Of a budget of about $800,000 the movie earned $32 million. Also, Hitchcock had his assistant buy up all the book the movie was based on he could so people wouldn't know what happened in the movie. He also didn't allow theaters to let anyone in after the movie had started. He wanted to preserve the full affect the audience got of the movie. What did you think of the movie?
