4 WORLD CUP games in one day!

Only one match on the first day of the World Cup but four yesterday? Still, it was a good football marathon and opened with France beating Australia 2-1 in a VAR packed match. Aussie international rugby, football and cricket teams all lost on the same day. We Poms love that! The French had a poor first half but jiggled it around a bit second half and scored the winner, Paul Poga adding to Griessman's penalty. An attacking Peru side lost to a boring Denmark team 1-0 in the same group. Someone who doesn't want to hear the word penalty is Lionel Messi, who missed a spot kick to win the game versus the pugnacious Iceland. Where as Ronaldo is playing for, and so driving on his national team, that's not the case with Messi and Argentina. He looks lost out there most World Cups. The 1-1 draw has turned that group on its head after Croatia beat a gormless Nigerian side 2-0 to head that group. Iceland has barely 300,000 citizens and around 50,000 fit male adults between 19-34 to pick the team from. Many are part-time players and their tried and tested long ball system works.

He seems aloof from the team.
