Coming in at # 9 on my favorite sharks series, is the Salmon Shark, they get their names, because they are one of the main predators of Salmon, they are a pretty good size Shark to, it's said they can get as big as 14 feet in length and, weigh over a thousand pounds, they are another one of the more social sharks as well, that will often feed together on huge schools of salmon, another interesting note is they are closely related to the great white and, the mako shark. They are also considered one of the best hunters and, can swim 50 mph, besides salmon, they eat squid, mackerel, herring, pollock, cod and, sardines. Some information verified at Wikipedia and, things I have learned over the years, they are mostly found in the pacific ocean and are not known to target humans, with only 1 confirmed attack, that being said they do have very sharp teeth and, are extremely powerful. Photo is By PIRO-NOAA Observer Program - http://ias.pifsc.noaa.gov/lds/obs_training/SharkMackerelNew.pdf, Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=6533664 I wish I could have found a photo of a big one.

Hi TR. They look like the great white shark. How are sharks classified because they almost look the same.

Definitely a shark with a lot of power due to being related to the great white and the Mako. I did not know about this shark, so thank you for this information, my friend.
