A medical term today, Abarticular, meaning away from the joints. Obviously much of the human body is not connected to the joints, but Abarticular applies to conditions that are commonly seen affecting joints when they affect body parts that are not joints. Some forms of arthritis and gout for example may affect ligaments rather than inflaming the joints, in which case they are described as Abarticular.
