Make hay while the sun shines.

The field across from me is just slightly larger than a football field. It used to contain the High School Football field when Florence had its own schools. Last night I watched someone come out and check the grass. Next thing I knew, it was being cut with a big farm tractor. I think it is called a combine. Later this week we are due to have thunderstorms. This evening someone came out, checked the mown hay and I suppose decided it was dry enough. They are baling it now into those big old round bales. I was worried about what would happen if it were to rain. Last year I think they got five bales. The next step will be that someone will come bring in trucks full of wheat that has been harvested and they will spread it and stir it to dry it. Who needs television. I get this lovely entertainment all for free while I type at my computer.

Indeed you have a live and lovely entertainment. When you get tired from using your computer, you can just gaze at it for about 20 minutes and your eyes will be relaxed.

Since I put a stop to the hunting in the city limits, aka my land and the land behind me, he fields are grown up and no one is cutting and baling the grass. I knew the one cut it for free for hunting rights. I guess all hings come to an end when the law is enforced.

You need some sheep or cattle to graze it for you. One more thing to take care of. Lease it as pasture to someone else maybe.

It actually has more substance than many television shows.

@GardenGerty You got that right! I spent a few minutes this afternoon watching an ant doing laps around the top of a pail... very absorbing.

@BarBaraPrz They are busy and active critters. A black wasp decided to help me with laundry.

The big round bales are wrapped with plastic here. If it rains after they are wrapped there are no problems.

I suspect these were taken to the barn. This year they did not leave them in the field.

@GardenGerty I noticed the bales in the field last Saturday, by today they have surely been collected.

@GardenGerty I miss living in the country. I did when I was a kid, otherwise it's all been city.

I spent lots of time watching that sort of activity in the past (when I was working in that country town). Love it.
