We forgot about getting paint colors approved

We moved into this house about 3 and a half years ago. It had not been painted in a few and now it is time. In this retirement community we chose, you own the manufactured home, but not the land it sits on. The man who owns the land where about 140 homes are located lives in California and owns several of these communities. When you purchase your home, you do so subject to several pages of rules and regulations (This is not uncommon, even in subdivisions where you own both the land and the residence). One of the restrictions is that you must get the color you plan to paint your house approved. You submit the color to the resident manager and she approves it or passes it along to "Andrew," the owner. This is a good thing really, since some people might choose loud pink, red or purple colors and he can prevent that But, we forgot. Anne chose something from Sherwin Williams called "banana cream", a soft yellow, with "soft fawn" trim. She had it tinted and got it during their 40% off sale, then we were reminded about the rules. Oops! The manager indicated that Andrew is not fond of yellow, however, we drove around and found a half-dozen yellow houses. Anne submitted the paint chips and fortunately, they were approved. That is a good thing, since we had to pay for that "banana cream" paint no matter what. The painter will start work on July 10th.

I've never thought to paint my mobile home, it has metal siding so I just leave it be.

I don't get it @JamesHxstatic why would a tin mobile home need to be painted?

@rebelann It's not a home like that. Here is a photo from my front door.

Good idea. Manufactured homes, like regular homes, need to be painted.

oh that is good that he approves. Though the owner might not be fond of yellow to say the least I think he is not hard hearted not to approve those colors since he will not be the one living in the house itself.

@JamesHxstatic for sure that is what he is also thinking but of course, he just wanted to be informed first as an owner

I live in a park that is mixed with RVs and park models. Blue is an approved color. Someone painted their place blue and someone decided they were offended by the shade of blue so they made the people repaint it at great expense. I hope no one gets offended because the blue does not grace their eyes.

No blue in our choices, a yellow and a brownish tan. If it is approved, no one can make a legit complaint.

@JamesHxstatic Where I live, there are different rules for different folks. Enough said.

We live in an HOA where they have to approve anything we do in our yards or outside of the house as well. Thank goodness we have a brick home so don't have to worry about painting much. Glad you got your paint approved and can move forward. Sounds like it will be pretty when its done

Yes, we were glad to, we did not have to buy two batches of paint. I thinkit will look nice. Since Anne is the artist, I went along with whatever she chose.

The color sounds pretty to me and I'm glad it got approved. I live in a community where we have HOA rules and guidelines for all sorts of things

I am glad I dont have to ask anyone. BUT I was looking at an empty house yesterday and I rode around the neighborhood and there in the back was a very nice house, built like the old Anna belle homes and it was painted neon blue with darker blue trim, looked so trashy in the middle of a pretty neighborhood.

That is why there are many neighborhood restrictions in newer subdivisions.
