love and lavender

June 19, 2018 5:00pm CST
A handwritten note had been posted through the door. Please may I have some of your lavender to make lavender bags? it politely enquired. I wrote a note back. As long as you leave some for the bees! it said. Oh, and mind where you put your feet; some local cats {probably ours} think that the front garden is their own personal toilet, I added. We have oodles of lavender in our front garden. It does look stunning, and the bees, butterflies and rosemary beetles do love it so. I'm quite sure we can spare some and who knows, I may get a lavender bag of my own to make my knickers smell nice! Do you need any lavender?

I love the way lavender looks in fields. You could make lotion bars out of it too and give it as gifts for birthdays and holidays.

If I left it, my garden would look like a lavender field. It is VERY prolific with its must-grow-everywhere mindset. Every year I pull up lots of tiny stalks which are trying to take root. And do you know, I have never even thought of using it to make stuff, but actually there is so much that maybe I should have a go. Hmmm ...

@Poppylicious You can just sell the lavender itself and it would be profitable. You could do more than just beauty stuff as well, lavender tea, lavender jam or jelly (probably?)... Lavender has medicinal qualities to it I'm sure. This is one of my favorite websites to reference.

The cabinets and drawers of my mom smelled of lavender. She asked me to bring her lavender flowers to dry. I have to say that it's not a perfume that I like a lot.

It is a bit old womanish, but I quite like it. And I like lavender flavours as well. Yum.

It is. It's nearly as nice as freshly cut grass and Parma Violets.

@poppylicious I love lavender bushes, and you, my dear, aren’t old enough yet to have knickers smelling of lavender.

This is true, but if I start practising for old ladyhood now, I'll have it down to a fine art by the time I am old enough. :)

I suspect it would take much more than a lavender bag to make my knickers smell nice!!!

We have 'farms' over here whose sole business is lavender. Very pretty. And very popular with tourists, particularly the Japanese.

Thanks! If you look carefully at the shiny rosemary beetle you can see a house. I think it's mine. You might even be able to see me! Beetles make good mirrors!
