I am not alone in always misspelling that word!

The one English word I always misspell that always causes the spell check to light up is for the word "definitely". I always want to spell it "definately". What surprised me when I researched this online is that it is common problem for many people. There was a survey done and the results said that "definitely" is the most common spelling mistake in the English language where people want to spell it the way I do, "definately". Is that word hard for you to spell? Is there another English word that is hard for you to spell?

Those who are not native speakers here like myself will not make those mistakes as when we were taught the language there was no forgiveness if we spelt a word wrongly.

I misspelled the words mostly because I accidentally typed the wrong words.

I do not misspell this word because the correct one is more similar to my native language.

i don't misspell 'definitely,' but i notice native english speakers do. i think the words we non-natives misspell are different from what native english speakers misspell.

@LeaPea2417 i've read comments under news articles in news sites that used "saw" instead of "so", "where's" instead of "wears" so it can be confusing while reading it. however, i'm also aware that there are people from my country that mistake "prepare" with "prefer". i think it has to do with our alphabet.

I'm surprised that is the most misspelled word. I would have guessed at loose, as Word always wants me to use that word instead of the right word lose. Yes, there are words I need to look up because I always get them wrong.

I am generally pretty good at spelling for whatever reason. Might be the writer in me or the editor in me. But one word that always trips me up is nonchalont...err uh...I mean nonchalant. Gets me every time.
