Where's my phone?

I made a reply to a post made by @DianneN (76157) and she convinced me to share this experience. I was at the checkout stand at City Market and I laid my phone in the seat part of the cart. I paid for my groceries, went out and put everything in the car, put the cart in its proper area and off I went for home. I got down the road aways and wanted to call my son but could not find my phone. Then it dawned on me that I had left it in the cart. I turned around and headed back to the store. Thank goodness that one of the baggers had went out to gather up carts and he found my phone and turned it in to the service desk. I was so relieved to have it back in my hand again. Now for the funny part. As I was driving back to the store I thought about calling to make sure it was there. I felt so stupid cause that is why I was going back to the store, to get my phone. Now I can laugh about it but I did feel pretty dumb when that thought came into my mind.

It's good you've recovered your phone. I hadn't get back my phone when I accidentally dropped while riding in a motorized tricycle. Upon knowing that my phone was not in right trousers' pocket. I borrowed a phone from my co-worker. I called up. I rang and someone took the call. I told the person that it's my phone that he's using. He replied, "Thank you for your phone." Then he closed the phone.

It is confusing at times but that is the way it is going to be from now on. I did get my landline so I don't have to deal with my cellphone as much. I only use the cell when I am away from the apartment.

@bunnybon7 I like it that way. I just need to get the caller ID and things set up on the landline.

So glad you got it back! I have left my keys hung on the cart but I could not leave the parking lot without them but I was embarrassed about walking back into the Dollar General to get them.

@velvet53 That day was a bad day. I saw someone that I did not want to see. I ended up leaving stuff on the counter and having to go back to get it and then when I left my keys, (coming back in for the second time) the girl at the counter looked at me like I was a total flake. I wish I could have crawled under something at that time.

@Shellyann36 Seeing someone you don't want to does things to a person. You aren't a flake you were just a little upset.

it's the same way as looking for my glasses when it's right in front of me or i'm actually wearing it. the phone is always in my pocket or bag when i'm out. i never put it down anywhere when i'm out.

It is good to hear that I am not the only one who can't find their glasses. I have the same problem. Normally I put my phone in my purse or pocket. I don't know what happened that day.

@hereandthere HaHa I would of probably acted the same way. We get used to things being in a certain place and when we put them somewhere else we get a little panicky.

@velvet53 you were probably distracted/preoccupied. i have a female relative who always puts her phone in the back pocket of her jeans, then would wear a long top. one time she transferred the phone to the front pocket while she was walking then panicked when she reached back later and it wasn't there. she has already forgotten that she just put it in her front pocket a while ago.

@velvet53 I had always thought of myself as a detached type. THAT TIME, I learned better. I got a depression for about half a year. Ended up using retail therapy to swing out of the mood, cost me about a thousand dollars. (online purchases).

I keep my phone in my pocket for that very reason. I used to put it in the cart but I am so absentminded that I would forget about it. I will either put it in my pocket or carry it in my hand. When I am leaving the store, if I am carrying the bags the car I will slip my phone in one and tie that bag up.
