Trump Crumples

The heartless separation of parents and children who are illegal immigrants is over as far as new border crossings are concerned. Condemned by every former First Lady, the Pope, and millions of outraged Americans like me and many of you, this practice is over (for now). The other difficult thing this administration faces is reuniting the nearly 2500 minor kids who have been scattered and warehoused around the country with their parents. At least three major airlines have said they do not want to profit from this do not want to be booked and to profit from the return of the kids to parents. That part I don't get. Why not get these kids reunited with families as soon as possible?

Shouldn't the Government foot the bill?

Yes, I would assume so, but why would the airlines ask not to be included?

@JamesHxstatic Good question. Maybe because they make money from Trump's mistake? I'd just charge less for open seats.

@JamesHxstatic I imagine it is because the Government would have to pay the regular airline rates (because of some arcane protocol or other), which would mean that the airlines would have to make a profit. I don't understand it, personally, but I can see why - business and accounting being as it is - there might be reasons for the airlines to refuse to cooperate.

I really don't understand how all the separated kids will join their parents. I also don't trust Trump. He would not crumple unless there was something in it for him. Something is going on.

@JamesHxstatic I wonder how the German word Hinterland became a part of the English vocabulary.

He miscalculated the outcry from the hinterlands, I think.

Hitler has never told crudely like Trump what he was doing with deported peoples, the Germans would not have accepted it. The German propaganda was releasing videos showing concentration camps like holiday camps. That 55% of GOP voters were supporting Trump on this policy is more than worrying for USA.

@topffer Yes it is, though well short of a majority. He lost by 2 million popular votes.

I can tell you why because they just did it with out any thought and you can tell it was out of hate. Listening to the President say words like compassion but could tell had none and hated the words he was saying. He just did it because people tied his hands behind his back. The news finally found some of the toddlers, three camps called tender boxes. What the hell is wrong with these people. I am done trying to explain to Trump supporters why he is an evil man. If they can't see it, they are just as evil as he is.

@JamesHxstatic Indeed and have noticed the news is getting more intense outside Fox News that is and even Geraldo went off on Sean Hannity on this one, but you can tell the real media sees how the President is finally realizing how much power he really has and it is scaring the crap out of them.

@JamesHxstatic - I have also read that the government has "lost track" of at least 1900 children who were sent to stay with people around the country and then the children left. What now? How will they be reunited. I feel like his change of heart has come a little late. So far, I have not heard of a single child who has been returned to his or her parent. This has been terrible and I hope it helps the Democrats take back control of Congress. I believe in a two-party system, but I think Trump has gutted everything of value in the Republican party.

It is the Trumpist party now. The two party system is fine, but that party never ran a candidate that was worth a vote. Even Reagan, who dismantled the mental health system in California as Governor, then did the same for the nation. The reuniting of families will be a huge problem I am sure.

@Deborah-Diane, @Crossbone27 @sallypup, I fear that we will now have reunited families in "internment camps."

@JamesHxstatic - It is a terrible situation. I cannot understand Trump's supporters. They say that it is "normal" for children to be removed when a parent is in jail, so what is the big deal? However, most of these adults are seeking asylum, which is NOT against the law, and their children were put in CAGES! Even children of convicted murderers are not put in cages in this country. I am absolutely stunned this is going on, and I cannot wait for Hollywood to make movies showing how horrible it has been. I am disgusted by this president and every single person who has supported this program.

You know what, we have an Air Force. Maybe some planes could be put to work doing that instead of pretend bombing practices, etc. It would be a good change of pace. I am not saying that our Air Force does not need to be prepared, but I am saying the government made the mess and should fix it.

He has no right to do that to children regardless of anything he has no right and I am glad that he has "crumpled" albeit it for while and I just hope that its for a long long while like never again is what I was thinking. Not too much has been on about this situation over here and only yesterday did I take in the full implications of what he was really doing. Here they make it sound like almost nothing until Felipe and Leticia went to see Mr. Trump of course and all that went very well as far as I can see and I was more interested in seeing the children back with their Families which is where they should be.

My view on this, what he says and what he really wants to do is never the same. He wants to show to the world that he listens, he is trying to find a way not to reunite the families.

I wonder how they will get these kids to their parents. Some parents are in detention some sent back to Mexico. There's talk of opening centers in Atlanta for some of the kids. I can't see this being made right. But at least they won't be taking kids from mothers in the future.

Others before him did not continue this barbaric practice and he is a terribly big fool to think that the American people would tolerate Third Reich behavior.
