I get hooked reading posts I should not read.

Most of the posts here are very much to my liking. And many people are so nice that I count them as my friends online. But I have said to myself many times that I should not get involved in religion, politics and cultural controversies. Still, lately I cannot turn my eyes away from the several posts about the President of the US. The truth is, I do not place a "like" in some of them, and I do not answer those that portray beliefs beyond my ethics. Still, I answer some of them and I shouldn´t. Sorry. I know that the US government tries s much as it can to force my country´s politics. I find it disgusting, so I should not do the same. Sorry again. Mea culpa.

I certainly don't mind your comments on any post I write. What happens in the US affects the world for better for for worse.

That's one reason I write a variety of posts. I know there are people who will not read my daily Bible study, and that's fine. I don't read the political ones either. I don't like getting in the middle of a controversial topic.

I don´t read anyone´s Bible studies but I do read many of your posts. There is a mylot friend who writes about the Bible from an atheist point of view. I don´t read them either. Religion is far too personal.

@just4him I agree. And although there are several of my interests that I don´t write about in this site, there are many different things I can talk here and do happily.

@marguicha And I respect that. I know if I only wrote that post, I wouldn't have many followers. Life is too short to have only one interest and write about only one thing. Life is about variety, and I try to show that in the various posts I write.

I try to avoid anything controversial. I do not agree with everything I read., but I want to remain friendly. I know I will never meet many of the people on here.Honestly I do not even know how I feel about much of what is going on in my country these days.

I know I am a bad influence on you. It really is hard to stay out of it and at the same time one is left feeling I am not letting these fools run rough shot over my life. I post them, do not care if it drives people away. Think I am a pretty rational person even with all my anger involved. Never disrespect people for the most part do catch my anger getting the best of me at times and do apologize if someone says, but funny thing is most do not say, but could be blocked the next day I am not sure if staying out of it is the way, just think people need to think a bit harder about what makes them so angry and then learn to express it in a way that sounds angry but is not hateful if you know what I mean. I struggle with that. It is like how can the hateful twist my words and say I am being hateful towards them. no, I am angry, not hateful. big difference.

I think that you can say all you want about your government and President. In fact, I guess it is very important if the people get really involved in politics. What I meant is that maybe I should keep my thoughts out of these subjects. I told about it at home with my offline friends though. Don´t worry about being a bad influence. I´m too old to be influenced in any way.

I stay away from posts about religion and politics. Everyone has their right to say about them, but they also would differ from what I believe, so I better not comment.

I have stayed away from religion. It was harder at the old mylot because there were some homophobic people and that I can´t accept. Specially if they said that God have personally talked to them about the subject. But lately my problem is politics. That is, the US politics.

@marguicha This might sound bad but I try to stay away from the news as much as possible. I believe the human mind does not have the capacity to cope with the huge amount of despair and negativity that is seen on the news these days. I think that this has a lot to do with the rise in mental health issues amongst people. We are constantly bombarded with news of despair and suffering from all over the world and it induces a feeling of helplessness as, most of the time, there is very little, if anything, we can do as individuals. As Morrissey recently sang: "And I recommend that you Stop watching the news Because the news contrives to frighten you To make you feel small and alone To make you feel that your mind isn't your own"

@marguicha But sometimes, we have to control our emotions too. Because of our emotions we might say something that may not give a good reaction to the person who posted the discussion.

Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it whether it exists or not, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedy. Quote from Ernest Benn. Just a topic that leads to arguing, hurt feelings, emotional outbursts and feelings of self importance. A topic to avoid discussing on My Lot if you want to keep your sanity!
