“How Do You Talk to an Angel” was an unexpected #1 hit that began as a TV show theme. “The Heights” premiered August 1992 and was a rock and roll “Beverly Hills 90210” type soap opera about young people putting together a band. One week after the song hit #1, “The Heights” was canceled November 1992. Written by Steve and Stephanie Tyrell and Barry Coffing, the song is on the soundtrack album “The Heights (Music from the Television Show).” Lead singer was the show’s main actor Jamie Walters with co-stars Cheryl Pollak, Charlotte Ross and Zachary Throne singing backup. Walters made his movie debut in 1991’s “Shout” with John Travolta in which he sang. The notoriety of “How Do You Talk to an Angel” was enough for Aaron Spelling to cast Walters as Ray Pruitt on “Beverly Hills 90210.” Following two seasons, he left to pursue music. His self titled 1994 debut album went platinum yielding the #16 hit “Hold On.” His 1997 second album went gold while 2002 last album went nowhere. Walters left show business and since 2004, is a Los Angeles Fire Department paramedic.

How cool that he's got such a selfless job now after being the center of attention. (Wonder if any girls who had crushes on him back then call and tell them they need him to give them mouth-to-mouth. ) The song itself? It sounds like it was written for a TV show.
