Slow fashion - the green option

I have long ago said fashion designers are conning people... How can a dress which looked nice and elegant on me in 2017 look outdated and dowdy in 2018 unless that fashion designer has some airs to influence the minds of others. I refused to follow these trends. I wear what I am comfortable with. It fits my budget. It looks fairly ok on me, and I feel I look good in it. I don't give a damn if it causes indigestion to some fashion designer. I also maintained that wardrobes should contain all types of designs and everything should be ok to wear. Why should all dresses suddenly have some cut on the shoulders as is currently the trend. It can alternate with puff sleeves and straight sleeves and sleeveless and whatever...everything should be acceptable. And to think that people are now looking for slow fashion ..buying long lasting goods rather than oh so many clothes ..each of which is not as long lasting............good green alternative considering the pollution textile industry is capable of. Only one doubt...if my waist keeps on bulging..as if it has an alien in there..what happens to the expensive clothing? Slow fashion is no doubt a good option, if you are great at keeping your figure. I cannot...beliefs in conflict with laziness..both can be discarded, and I know beliefs will lose ..sigh.

I do not care at all to know what is in fashion and what is not. I wear what I like, I have some dresses that are 25 years old, still beautiful and they look great. Some women stopped me to ask where I bought them... in another time in another world.

Yes, I like that retro look we can periodically come up with. We look different, and striking. Not ordinary like the rest, even though others would have spent fortune on their clothes.

@LadyDuck This morning the insurance agent arrived, and I unfortunately used up some of his time. I explained why Indian industries are dying thanks to banks not registering the charges with sub registrar. He was shocked and he clearly understood the link. Now on the fourth, I have a choice to accept the monetary reward and close the deal, or take it further to its logical conclusion by knocking the doors of Reserve Bank of India and the Press. Yes, with one internal policy, top brass of the banks are able to corner cheaper finance, denying other entrepreneurs affordable capital, making their produce expensive, and therefore, making Chinese goods cheaper. Would I be able to say that in front of the forum? I doubt it. At the other end, banks are saving on employing people, and also preventing people from getting government jobs in sub registrar's office. Effectively, we run short of 100000 jobs every 25 years. Fewer employees, fewer tax payers...we are being beaten up from both sides with that internal policy of the bank.

@vandana7 If you do not spend a fortune, in our days, the clothes are all very similar, all coming from China and sold by the same big clothing stores.

Dear @vandana7 , I think this is your second attempt to target these fashion designers! They also want to live and want both the ends to meet! If they don't do like this where from they earn their bread and where the surplus black money will go? Yes, it is always true that we wear the things what in which we are comfortable though we may see anything in a fashion show or in magazines! so why to grumble against these people! Live and let others to live!

Let them come up with something that suits people of all ages...all built..in all seasons...why dictate terms to me. I don't like them telling me this does not look good on you...like hell...they need to get their eyes checked. Or tell me the why's of them. And the thing I wanted to speak about is slow fashion...why it won't suit everybody.

And did you know that as soon as trend changes, big fashion houses collect all remaining clothes and burn them down...correspondingly they increase the cost of other clothes.

I become kind of defiant..LOL. I actually pioneered palazzo trend out here, much before it caught on...simply because I am comfortable in them.

@vandana7 that is so true. though new trends are nice to see, the price is too expensive and their comfort is always in question

You should buy clothes that YOU are comfortable wearing. Look at some of the ridiculous creations that come out of the fashion world of Paris for example. They are simply hideous!

@vandana7 There was a daft designer here who made dresses with big false bottoms in them. She is definitely as daft as a brush.

Rich isn't that color beautiful? I think so...I do have two green dresses, of which one is closer to that shade. I think I will wear that one today. :)

I buy what I´m comfortable with, even in a matter of color. Some years, the trend is this or that color which I just will not wear. It is true that some clothes (specially the jeans I love best) tend to shrink in the closet from one season to the other.

Hmm... I'm not familiar with this green fashion or this slow fashion, but I agree with you that I go for what I find comfortable. I don't really understand all that talk about what's in and what's not.

Most shops sell what is fashionable and there can be months, if not years, where I can't buy anything because nothing suits my tastes. I either buy online, in outlet shops, or I don't buy at all, which ain't too bad. I sometimes borrow from my mother, and I sometimes lend her. I was overweight and she was slim, now it's kind of the opposite, therefore we share. This also happens with friends, relatives, or other people you may know. If you're into "baggy clothes", weight gain is often not a big deal. There are also pieces that are unique size, such as leggings and some dresses. Those are usually a good "investment".

Sorry, I'm not into fashion. Sometimes I don't even agree with the latest trends.

I buy what I like and what I hope will look good on me. Will green look good on me, or yellow, blue, or red? Will I look good with a crazy design or plain. There are so many factors that play into what looks good on a person, hair, eye, and skin tone all play a huge part in what will look good on a person. The fashion industry does play a part in what we wear, without it, we wouldn't have anything to choose from, but to have them dictate what we wear, no, nobody can do that.

I don't follow trends either. I don't like the cold shoulder look anyway. I wear what fits me and what I like.
