Coffee and Some Chit Chat

Happy Thursday everyone! After a cloudy overcast start the sun has come out and it looks like a nice day ahead. The lawn people are here so it's loud with all the mowers going but I'm happy that they do it and I don't have to. I'm having some coffee and taking a break from a mess I've gotten myself into. I have an island in my kitchen with cabinets below. It's great for extra storage and what started out as a well organized area has now turned into a place where things get shoved when they don't have any other place to go. I decided I have too many things on my counter-top and I hate clutter so I figured some of it could go in the cabinets below the island. Of course there's no room so I figured how long could it take to just organize it a bit. Silly me cause now everything that was in the cabinets in now spread around the kitchen floor and what seemed like a good idea really wasn't. Once I sort through all the stuff and put it back neatly it will be nice to have organization in those cabinets and more room on my counter-tops. My daughter is at work today and this would have made more sense to do when she was home. But, I'll get it done before she comes home and she'll be surprised when she sees how orderly everything is. Now I'm going to see what's happening here before going back to tackle my project.

lol I completely understand, you need to make a big mess before you can fix the original big mess lol I need to tackle my linen closet.

The question is: How long will it stay organized? I've been there done that, and it always ends up in the same unorganized mess. It does look great when it's done though, and it does give a sense of pride, until you realize you need to do it again. Have fun.

I moved a lot of stuff I hardly ever use so that freed up lots of space. I hope it stays organized for awhile

I wish you good luck in sorting out the stuff you got in your kitchen. I think, it´s a lot of work to do in one single day; hopefully, you will have it done if not today, surely before the weekend

Sometimes things get worse before they get better and it seems that is what is happening with you. I'm sure it will be worth the effort in the end.

It was well worth the effort and now it's all tidy and there's room for the things I had cluttering up the counter-tops. It went faster than expected and I even found time for a cat nap

@Marilynda1225 That's good news. Cat naps are pretty good aren't they? I'm expecting to get one today as we've blown a tyre and can't go anywhere. We had a spare so we're okay but we need to get another spare before going too far out of town.

I'm starting to wonder is kitchens are ever built big enough for a normal sized family. Our starts out fine and then suddenly a couple of years later... I want a bigger one. Yes, I'm planning what I want when we move. Good luck with yours!!

I agree. I thought my kitchen was awesome when I first bought my house but as time goes on and we accumulate more and more things the cabinets get crowded and the kitchen seems to shrink. Hope you get your dream kitchen when you move

I have nothing on my counter tops except the microwave and a coffee pot. I use the bottom for the small appliances and pots and pans. The uppers for dishes. But I do have a pantry to store food, if not I would not have as much as I do under those cabinets.

I thought I had more than enough space when I bought my house and the kitchen ideal. But as time goes on more and more things accumulated and now I feel as if the kitchen has shrunk. I also have a food pantry which I love. My goal is to get all the things back off the counter-tops that have taken up residence there.

A lot of work, especially the bending and coming back up. Hard on the back. Did you at least, get rid of "something"?

I put a lot of things we rarely use in the garage and now we have plenty of room to store the things taking up room on the counters. It wasn't as bad as I had originally anticipated but yes the bending was hard
