Happy Summer Solstice, everyone! Do a happy jig for me, please. Hubby and I picked strawberries last night just before dark then we walked around and picked raspberries. The raspberries looked a little thirsty. Crazy water birds- stilts- zoomed over, screaming. Nest near by? This morning I turned the spigot on so that water poured from our system of hoses. This is the time of year when I realize how much there is to care for. We've planted a few apple trees up behind the house. Those trees must have a drink. To the front and right side, grape starts and catmint: thirsty. By the front gate: a sprawling strawberry patch: please give us a drink. The shed garden: need water. Keep pulling that hose!! Hollyhock and hops, petunias, oregano, and on the other side of that, summer tomatoes and goji berry bush. Thirsty!! Give us a little water, please! I also need to get out with a scrub bush and clean out the dog's tub. Summer is for sure here.

I understand what you mean, we are already in the peak of summer with scotching heat and irritating weather! In fact we are waiting for the rains to come! So how are you going to quench the thirst of those plants? Do you use tube wells for watering them? Thanks!

@AKRao24 I am not sure what you mean. I live on three acres. I have a well that pumps water to the house and a spigot. I hook hoses to the spigot and flip its lever up and out comes water.

I hope it often rains in summer so that your plants will not be thirsty.

@sallypup It's not too much rain in this place where I live, but it will also rain, almost once or twice a month.

@caopaopao You have kind thoughts. Thank you. My summers are often dry for weeks and weeks. Do you get a lot of rain in your country?

I noticed my geraniums and other flowers were very thirsty this morning too so I gave them a drink.

Hi Lenore. A lot of fresh picks. Hope we so the same here in the capital. Summer had ended for us here, though.

Yes everything seems to get demanding in the summer. But it is much more enjoyable than winter.
