A hacker took my friends fb account

My friend won an amazon gift card in a contest , she messaged the page and the owner told her that sha had already sent her the amazon code. So we looked and when they announced winners, someone took her profile picture, made an account with her name and took the prize. My friend is out of a prize , the page owner can’t do a thing about it.amazon can’t take the prize back. Most prizes that are given on fb will message you privately now, instead of announcing the winner. This is to avoid a clone acct by a theif.

I don't trust most giveaways on facebook. Not because they aren't legitimate but because they require steps that essentially take your privacy away. Like, Comment, Share. Sure that seems okay enough but then it allows for things like the above to happen.

The contest page should have verified carefully.

@CookieMonster46 Yes I understand, but the contest winner should have contacted directly from person holding the contest. Instead of the winner contacting the page.

Well when the winner responded with my friends name the page owner gave to the imposter.

How sad that even just a gift like that could be stolen by a hacker. That is why my fb page is on a private setting. I only can ask for friends, but not anyone can ask to be my friend.

FB should be more careful, there are plenty of scammers ready to grab everything they can.

The fake acct has been reported but fb still hasn’t removed it.

@CookieMonster46 Facebook is not very good in taking care of those matters.

that's sad. I don't like giveaways that have you like, or share. I had done a few and I always regretted it.

Wow that's pretty bad--the bad guys are waiting around every corner! How sad for your friend.
