Ask Andrea - Caesarian section and the myths around it.

June 22, 2018 3:15am CST
Hi all. As a mother of 3 and a health professional I am shocked about misperception when it comes to Caesarian sections. So many women are scared to death to get a C-section, which is a real shame, as it can be a wonderful experience, even if you didnt plan on having one. I have attended about 150 C-sections and cared for as many mothers, fathers and eventually babies. I can understand why a lot of women are scared, but I feel most of that is due to lack of knowledge and horrorstories that you hear from other women. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. Just fire away

Your 3 children are not normal deliveries?

They were all normal deliveries. But I have attended about 150 deliveries as a healthcare porfessional and had equally many discussions with scared women and are still surprised how little the general public knows and how many unjustified fears there are in women...just want to help ease some minds and clarify why it is not a failure to have a Caesarian section

oh that is great to hear that you can answer question about the C-section. I gave birth through normal delivery but I do not have any bad impressions for that because if the doctor says you need that to get the baby out, then what the heck. We should trust our doctors, right?

I think that most women are scared of how much it costs than the procedure itself.

That is probably true in a lot of countries. I am spoiled, it does not cost me anything were I live

well, why do you think most women are getting very scared to get a C-section? I guess it is less painful than the actual normal delivery.
