Road Trips

Whenever I go to our hometown every Saturday then go back to the city on Sunday morning, I take the PhilCab, an air-conditioned public utility van here in our province. If I travel by night, that isn’t the case now, I play my favorite game on my mobile. But when it’s still daylight, I don’t. Even if I pass by the same sights, I won’t get tired of looking at the sights that the van passes by. Especially, when it is s sunny and Mayon Volcano is in its majestic view, I stare in awe. The rice fields and mountains too, complete the sights. If you are having a road trip and just the passenger, would you play or fiddle on your mobile or sit and look at the views the car passes by?

I'd probably get car-sick if I played on the mobile and I don't have one anyway. I like to watch the scenery go by.

Really, you don't have a mobile. That is I think rare nowadays, as I see here in the Philippines, everyone carries their mobile even while walking in the street. That is good because you get to do the nicer things instead like watching the scenery.

No, I usually don't. I like seeing the view. I also do not have the tendency to sleep when I am traveling especially at day time.

Me no, I cannot sleep when I am traveling by daylight. My mind is so apprehensive that I might gape while sleeping or lean on my seatmate's shoulder, which is so shameful.

@SIMPLYD ahaha. yes and that. But since I am a city girl, when I do travel, I do not close my eyes unless it is really dark and I cannot see any view. I like the window seat.

@rakski I don't like the window seat anymore. I take the aisle seat whenever we travel by air-conditioned bus to Manila which travels at nighttime and arrives Manila in the morning. That is because in some place some children throw stones and that might shatter the glass window.

I have travelled by bus several times and the foreign tours are mostly by bus and while on tour my eyes are glued to sights that come my way.

I love to look at the scenery when we are travelling and rarely sleep. My wife on the other hand prefers to sleep and wake up once we got there! She is not great company to travel with even on the plane. Once the plane is airborne she sleeps until we nearly arrive at our destination.

Oh, she misses a lot of good sights. With me and hubby, it's him who sleeps while we travel by bus. Me, I don't also. I prefer to feast my eyes on the sights the bus passes by.

I sit and look at the road, because our roads are so crowded that I do not want to get distracted. If my husband misses something I want to be there to let him know.

For how many lanes are the roads there Anna? Here it is already for four lanes since they widened it just recently as you can see in the picture.

@LadyDuck It's as wide as our roads too. It looks like that at the tollways going to Manila.

@SIMPLYD It depends which roads, the main highways are three to four lanes each way, the country roads are one lane each way. By chance I took a photo yesterday coming back home to Italy, you see the highway is divided in the middle to avoid accidents, there are 4 lanes each way (high traffic as usual).

when i ride on a bus, i like to watch the mountains from afar, and if i want to drowse off, i watch the electrical wires, it going up and down, until my eyelids droop.

Good for you that you can fall asleep while on travel. Me, even if the trip is at night, I just can close my eyes, but my mind is active when I am tired of playing on my mobile. But when it's daylight, I am just watching the scenery as it unfolds.

@ridingbet I am always awake whenever we travel to Aritao. So, I always get to see Sta. Fe. In fact, it's where we always eat our lunch. I love their "dinakdakan" there. I love Sta. Fe. All buses pass by it when they are bound to Aritao, Bayombong and your place indeed.

@SIMPLYD when we go to the capital city by bus, it is always expected to pass along Sta. Fe-san Jose at the Caraballo mountain range. as what my mother (+) often told us, we wake up to see the lights from down when we are ascending the mountain. even my big brother carries that practice. all of us do that-wake up when the bus travels up the mountains.

Only about 25-30 minutes or sometimes just 20 minutes. No, I don't get dizzy. I am a good traveler, even by plane. I don't get dizzy or "byahilo", unlike our daughter. She takes Bonamine before she travels.
