Cold Like Independence Day

I woke to the sound of thunder, the thunder shaking the earth. Large rain drops falling on the bathroom vent fan with loud tings. No wind. No rotation.
I turn over and pull the blankets up tight, flipping on the electric blanket, I am so cold. After laying in bed just listening I notice the a/c is not coming on, that means the temps are about the same outside.
As most thunder rolls in from the west I think About Roscoe, I know he is in the dark dog house curled up with Harley but worried, thunder worries him.
Now I am fully awake with all my thoughts, I climb out of bed, the house feels so cold to me. I go straight to my dresser and get a pair of sweat pants out and a pair of socks, cold weather gear.
I made coffee and I set here trying to warm up, I can say I have not been this cold since March. The words "cold like independence day" came to mind, even though my independence day has yet to come.

It is winter here and I think that the only one who is warm is Luna. She has that delicious fur coat! I rub it and pet her when we are friends. She pees with content. When she has done something naughty, I tell her I´ll make me a pair of slippers with her fur. She hides in her house with a face of guilt.

Its summer here and it should be about 90 degrees F outside and 80 F inside. Poor Luna.

@andriaperry I think this is because I lived in a place where it is usually hot and you live where it is mostly cold. IT is okay.

@mlgen1037 No I get 8 to 9 months of hot here. And our cold is not really cold. Its rare we get snow.

We are right into the heat now and it won´t let up now for weeks apart from the odd storm.
It never gets cold when summer kicks in at all.
At least I have never known it.

Its unbearably hot right now and there is no air conditioning here so I have to make do with using my own ideas to keep as cool as I can.
Summer here goes on and on with no break hardly in the temperature.

I remember one summer about 20 years ago, in July the temp went down to around 70 F, that was odd and I was cold, June and July are usually 90 - 100 degrees f!

It's pretty chilly here too but a welcome change from the heat. We're expecting thunderstorms at some point today but neither of our dogs are bothered by thunder
