A suspected endocrine-disruptor and antibiotic type chemical called triclosan is found to be an ingredient in such household and personal care products like detergents, soaps, mouthwashes and toothpaste. It is even found in toys, socks and bedding. In a recent published study in the Science Translational Medicine journal it says that this chemical can cause inflammation to the gut. It can increase the risk of colon cancer. Triclosan was also found in 75% of urine specimens tested at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. To prevent or at least limit your exposure to this harmful chemical it is a good idea to use only natural toothpaste and don't use commercial mouthwashes and toothpaste. You may want to choose clothes made from natural fibers such as cotton and hemp. Check your mattress and be alert to what is in the soaps and detergents that you use.
Triclosan is found in many products. Understand the safety concerns.

It seems like we have to worry more and more each day. That is why I intend to start making all of my own things. I do need to switch my toothpaste brand. I've switched brands quite a bit but always go back to the commercial stuff.

@celticeagle There is no telling what dangerous things are hiding behind scientific words. Tea Tree oil is supposed to be very good for teeth cleaning, and other things.

@celticeagle Definitely. Especially since many companies are taking "short cuts" to get their products out for the least amount of money out of pocket (for them).

I've been organic for 2 decades and hopefully this chemical is not in products I use. I'll have to recheck the woolite and tide I use although so far they don't seem to irritate me, I have skin allergies. Thanks for the link.

It a wonder EVERYONE doesn't have skin allergies with all the additives and chemicals used.

I think a lot of people rely on doctors to give them pills instead of changing the products they use @celticeagle

I´ll check on the ingredients. Here they have to put all the ingredients in whatever a person can eat. Of course that does not go for toys.
