Shoulder(s) update

Well now I have the same type of issue in BOTH shoulders. My right shoulder has had a cortisone injection and it is much improved. It does still hurt a bit and it does grind/slip, but it is nothing like it was for several months. The left one, on the other hand, is a hot mess. 800 milligrams of ibuprofen this morning did NOTHING to touch the pain. I'm relying on BioFreeze to help temporarily make it feel better but it only works for an hour or two. I'm going to call the orthopedic office on Monday for another appointment to get a cortisone shot in the left shoulder now. I don't want to wait 3 months like I did with the right one. I know how this goes. In the meantime, though, I really don't like feeling like I'm 80 years old with horrible shoulders when I'm really just over 40.

I hope so too. It worked for the other shoulder so it should for this one too. Maybe it is just my shoulders rebelling after 40+ years of sleeping on my sides?

That isn't good. Have you had a bone density test done? I am at a high risk for osteoporosis. You may want to get one done to be in the know.

No I've never thought to have one done. This situation has just cropped up since March.

@Starmaiden I don't go to a typical gym. I do workouts that are specifically designed each day and we all do them together while a trainer supervises us. I go to the classes that the owner of the gym runs. It is very similar to CrossFit. The orthopedic doctor that I saw was a sports medicine doc at a specialized practice. He had a full list of all of the medications that I take and he didn't say anything about what I was taking so I hope that there isn't a connection. I will definitely ask about it, though, on my next visit. Also if he thinks I should do a bone-density test at 41.

@NJChicaa The best person to ask about your meds is the pharmacist. He/She has all the information you need. Hopefully that's not it.

I don't understand why the medical profession is baffled.

I don't know if they are. The cortisone shot worked (pretty much) on the 1st shoulder. It is just INSANE that the same thing happened to the other one now.

Thanks. I think it will require a cortisone shot in the other shoulder first before I will.

Thanks but they never work which is why I usually don't bother with them.

@NJChicaa I am sorry about your shoulders. I have also had cortizone shots but it was too late to help the right one. My right shoulder is of no use and the left started acting like the right but there is suppose to be room for improvement but does not work. When I had the cortizone shots I could not do anything for 7 days. They helped a little but not enough for me. I tried so many things but that was the only thing that helped a little. Since I was told one can only have not many cortizone shots I decided to stop them. Good luck to you and I hope you find ways for your shoulders.
