Unexpected Surprise

United States
June 25, 2018 11:38am CST
I'm a bit late here today as I had unexpected company. I was ready to sit down and myLot with my coffee when the doorbell rang. Lo and behold it was my granddaughter which was totally a surprise especially since she was alone. She had the biggest grin and literally bounced into the house flashing her newly acquired drivers license! I can't even begin to describe how excited she was and how she came here by herself for her first solo drive. After failing her driving test recently she didn't tell me she had rescheduled for this morning and wanted to surprise me if she passed. Now it's official!! she can drive and another milestone. It seems like only yesterday when she was born (she'll be 17 on July 10). Now the fun begins and I wish her many many miles of safe driving. Tomorrow she leaves for Italy for 10 days on her school trip. Talk about life being good

Italy sounds great! A teen with a drivers license. Can your doctor prescribe you some Valium?

@Marilynda1225 Heh heh. I hope she's a good driver. And that she never texts while driving.

The way Italians drive - especially in the South of the country - won't make her want to drive there!

That is wonderful. I failed my test on the first time and it was a big drama. I didn't even get my license for a few years after that...Glad your Gdaughter has hers!

You're a lucky lady to have her make that first solo drive to see you! I remember when our son made his first solo drive-it was out to the farm to see my Dad, Papa was over the moon when he saw Jonathon pull into the yard driving all by himself.

That's what I expected. First time fail, second time pass. I'm glad for her. Though, I know you're going to be praying for her now more than ever, every time she gets behind the wheel. One thing we don't want is for our children to become teenage statistics. I wish her a wonderful trip to Italy.
