Tripleblaze Redux

“I’m back,’ I guess, is the best way to put it. Years ago, I discovered a website called Singletracks.com, and by design, their sister website, Tripleblaze.com. The sites are a fun way, depending upon your interest, for mountain bikers, hikers, and campers to keep track of trails ridden and hiked, and campgrounds camped. Since I am mainly discussing Tripleblaze today, I’ll stick with that site. In addition to notching off trails and campgrounds as you hike and camp, you can contribute photos, reviews of trails and campgrounds, and even review outdoor gear and books. Simply put, it’s a really fun website. And a few years ago, I wrote an article here on MyLot bashing the hell out of them. Let me explain. I had not logged on to the site in awhile, and when I finally did, I found a great-looking, revamped site. Cool! However, I could not find any of my contributions. It seemed as if my entire account had been wiped clean. Bummer! So I ranted and raved and swore that I’d never be back. However, after my wife and I were considering doing some camping at Cheyenne Mountain State Park, located in Colorado Springs, I did use Tripleblaze to try to find information. There was none, so as we camped, I took photos, and, still under the assumption that my account had disappeared, I created a new account, left a short review of the place (which earned me some free Tripleblaze stickers for being the first to submit a review,) uploaded my photos, and began using the site again as a source of information. The other day, I stumbled upon my old account, intact with all of my contributions. D’oh! Now, I am not the sort of fellow that likes to have multiple accounts on any website, so I have been slowly transferring all of my photos, trail reviews, and gear reviews over to the new account, deleting from the original account as I go. In doing so, I am experiencing fond hiking memories with each photo that I move. In fact, it’s motivating me to want to start hiking again. There are lots of Colorado Springs area trails that I’ve yet to hike, which means that there are photos to be taken, and reviews to be written. There’s a place, Pulpit Rock, located not too far from where my wife works. I’ve never been there, but I’m really hoping to go knock it out in the morning after I drop her off at work. So I have to recant my dismissal of Tripleblaze.com. If you have any interest at all in camping or hiking, it’s a really fun way to enhance those activities. I highly recommend it! (The photo is one that I took while hiking Red Mountain Trail in Manitou Springs a few years ago)

Vince sometimes starts to rant and rave about stuff that has disappeared from one of his photo accounts or whatever. I don't take any notice for a start because almost it turns up eventually. I'm glad you found your account but you now have a lot of work to do transferring your info.

@teamfreak16 I have dozens from our trip too. The camera takes them in a certain size - usually larger than I can use here. So I copy it in case I need a larger size some time in the future. Then reduce one. I know I never will use the larger sized one but - just in case. So I sometimes end up with two of almost everything.

@JudyEv - I have a habit of deleting them after I post them. I usually can find them if I need them again. I do everything on my phone, and don't really want to use up all my memory on photos.

I've got most of it done. Transferring the photos takes the most time. I tend to take a lot of pictures when I hike.

That's awesome man! Sounds like a very resourceful website, and pretty cool you were one of the first people on the site!

The site has well over 55,000 members. I was just the first to review that particular campground. I haven't checked, but I'm going to say that they probably have a lot of Canadian trails and campgrounds on there. I don't think that it's limited to the US.

@teamfreak16 Oh wow! That's a lot. And ahh, I see. Still, very cool. Ok, thanks for the info, I'm literally checking in to it right now, even though I haven't been hiking or camping for a while, I may have to get back in to that kind of thing

@mawdest - I was curious, so I just looked at it myself. Lots of Canadian trails and stuff. It would be fun to get up there and hike some of those!

Hmm. I've never heard of this site. But I do like the rock formation.

You hike a lot. You should check it out. You can find trails to hike, keep track of them, post photos and reviews, it's a pretty fun site.

It definitely is. While I do know of lots of trails in both the Colorado Springs and Denver areas, I've also found a few that I didn't know about through them.

I did just a few minutes ago. This morning, I went on a hike at a place I'd never been to before. Great scenery, I got some pretty good photos, but I was very disappointed by the trail itself.

Does it also give you earnings?

No. It's strictly an information site on which to share such information with people that share those interests.

I had no choice once I stumbled across my old account. I always liked the site. A lot. I must have found it in transition after they redid it or something.
