Criminals Come in All Races

Recently, our president has a new slogan. He is telling his followers that if our country blocks immigrants from entering our country it will stop crime. In fact, he is saying that zero immigration will result in zero crime. I find this a ridiculous assertion, because every time my husband and I have been a victim of crime, the person who committed the crime was a white American citizen. When I was in the hospital delivering one of our babies, our home was burglarized. Among the items which were stolen was my husband's motorcycle and they caught the guy who stole it while out for a joy ride. He lived in our suburban neighborhood and he was a white American citizen. A dozen or so years later, my husband was pick-pocketed. The police later found his wallet in a drug house occupied by white American citizens. About five years after that, our boat trailer was stolen. We found it being used by a white American citizen. All these incidents happened during the 24 years we lived in Texas. Since we moved to California 18 years ago, we have never been the victim of any crime, not even petty theft. However, we did catch some boys in the act of trying to steal a battery charger that my husband used for his golf cart. You guessed it. The boys were white American citizens who lived in an affluent subdivision next to our retirement community. As a result of our personal experience, I am totally mystified how zero immigrants would result in zero crime ... unless his next move will be to deport all white Americans back to the European countries where their ancestors lived! These needless attacks on immigrants are absurd! (I love this photo of a "criminal" which came up when I did a Google search for images of criminals! LOL)

Crime is committed by all sorts of people. I find crime by the affluent to be particularly despicable.

@JudyEv - I agree. It amazes me, actually, how many of the people in Trump's administration have gotten in trouble for criminal activities such as money laundering and similar "white collar" crimes. It truly is despicable.

@JamesHxstatic - Trumpisms. I like that description of what he says. I agree that it makes no sense and is a blatant lie. I continue to be amazed by the number of people who believe everything he says, even when he changes his mind within a day. They just change theirs, too!

He really is a racist. Should we send him a list of "American" famous criminals? Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, Jim Jones, were not at all immigrants. Judy is Right, crime is committed by all sorts of people.

@DeborahDiane This is what most countries do, blame the immigrants and it's not something of the recent times, remember Sacco and Vanzetti.

@LadyDuck - You are right. I guess people always prefer to blame immigrants, because they do not want to accept that people like them could be the greatest danger!

@LadyDuck - Your list is a good reminder that most of the really heinous crimes in our country were committed by white American citizens. Maybe we want to focus on foreigners because we don't want to look too closely at ourselves.

@thedevelinme - There has been a lot of evidence that this may be partially due to the fact that black people are treated more harshly by the judicial system than white people.

Hi Deborah. Some people have this misconception on things and are blind to the truth or maybe cannot accept the fact that there are white Americans also need do crimes. Even that there is racism.

@mlgen1037 - I agree. People do not want to look to closely at the fact that their own race could be the biggest threat ... and I am a white American!

@mlgen1037 - I'm a white American, so I have nothing against them, either. I agree that some people just cannot accept the fact that racism is wrong, and judging people on the basis of race is idiotic!

@DeborahDiane Sadly. I have nothing against white Americans but crimes are committed by all race. No one is perfect. I think some people just cannot accept that fact too.

I think there is logic to what your president is saying. For every x number of individuals you need 1 policeman. But when x becomes 2x without official record, your security comes down naturally. Illegal immigration is difficult for any country to manage. It is like I will drop in at your place for one week but stay on forever. Your budget and future planning will go haywire.

@changjiangzhibin89 - Yes, his ancestors immigrated here and his wife is also an immigrant. In fact, some people question the legality of the visa she used to come to America. He wants to tell everyone else what to do; he does not want to follow the rules himself.

We are easily prejudiced and sweep under the carpet some inconvenient truths and hypocrisy. I have studied in institutions managed by various faiths and lived in few countries with diverse cultural orientations. I can testify there are the good and the bad everywhere - siva

Our president. I suppose we must call him that, is a racist and doesn't have a clue as to what is really going on. You must have noticed that our farmers are desperate for help on their farms and steel mills are laying off workers due to his actions. I'm afraid we'll be in deep trouble before he's out of office. We were only robbed once and it was when we were moving. We knew it was a neighbor. He was a white man and another time Our sons motorcycle was stolen, it was a white boy. Another sons bike was stolen, it was a white boy. We were all emigrants once unless we are American Indians.

@RubyHawk - What I cannot understand is that some of those farmers will STILL vote for him and his party again. I simply do not understand how people can vote against their best interests.

@DeborahDiane I read about farmers in the journal. They are having a tough time with few immigrants to gather their crops. Lost crops means no money for mortgages and the loss of their farms. They are in a terrible bind. The president has nothing to say to them.

Honestly, I think it's naive to imply that crime, especially muggings, burglaries, etc., are equally distributed among the races. The statistics show that this is not the case. But the statistics also show that most people of all races are law-abiding citizens. Stopping immigration will not substantially change crime rates. Trump is an idiot.

Everyone can be criminals if they choose to, not just those immigrants.
