I admit, I do have an inquiring mind and I know, I know, many are wagging their fingers at me right now. But I am being honest and I am sure many who are curious about what goes on around them, even though they won't admit it. I like to know what's going on around me and with friends and family and in my community. Recently I found out that the cops visited my neighbors at midnight one night. Since then it appears they have been in hiding. They have essentially abandoned their beloved yard. His vehicle is hidden behind a closed garage door, hers is parked outside and we only get fleeting glimpses of her. He has only been spotted once since the incident. I wish I watched CSI more. I want to know what happened. Is it something that I need to be concerned about, for my family or theirs? Even though we are anything but best friends I worry and hope they are okay. Does your inquiring mind usually want to know?

We should all be concerned about what goes on around us so we can protect ourselves and support each other

I can be curious as well but also keep a distance if I donĀ“t really know what is going on. There are quite a few things go on here of a night time also but I keep a distance and just listen or watch from the window without anyone seeing. I hope that they are okay those neighbours. I rarely watch C.S.I. as they are forever changing the times of transmission of it.

@Freelanzer I can understand that as well and I have only ever intervened a couple of times when everyone else was ignoring the person. Me and another guy did we phoned for help and the other person was in a very bad state and he was quite overcome that anyone should think of him.

Same here I keep my distance but I do feel uneasy. If it is not serious, no issue but if it is something that I need to worry about my safety or that of the neighbors, yes I am concerned.

I would want to know too. I am a very curious person. I wonder if one of them did something unintentionally that hurt the other and they are embarrassed and a bit traumatized by it. Couldn't you make a wellness call on them? Just saying you haven't seen them out, wondered if they were ill and needed anything

@Freelanzer .....And, I would think that if you were sick you'd want a neighbor to check in.

That is exactly what I had in mind. They usually do not interact with any of the neighbors. I do hope they are alright and yes I am a curious person too. I think it is important to be so when you see something out of the ordinary you can be on your guard.

I'm also curious about the universe but mind my own business when it comes to neighbors.

@Freelanzer I understand what you're saying is but how do you find out without causing trouble to yourself? Can you go over and ask if everything is well? Would that be a wise thing to do?

I have always been taught to be concerned about my neighbors, whether or not we are friends. When I think of all those children who were imprisoned and abused in their homes for years while neighbors went about their business, I am appalled. I am glad I am nosey when it comes to concerns about a neighbor's well being or my family or the community where I live. If my neighbor was arrested for shooting or assaulting someone, I want to know.

@1hopefulman No I won't ask but that doesn't mean I am not concerned. I feel empathy even though I may not be able to do anything about it. But if I did feel that there was something not right (as in the case of all those tragedies when people saw the signs and minded their own business) I would contact the authorities- This case doesn't warrant it.

It's human nature for us to want to be a little nosy to what's going on around us. Nothing wrong with that. The better informed we are of everything going on, the better decisions we can make in our everyday life.

I think so too. In the days when early man didn't have the tools and technology we have today I am sure they depended a lot more on observation and instinct in order to survive.

Hi Freelanzer. I am as puzzled as you for what happened to your neighbor. Like I know it is their life but still compassion for those people kicks in.

Yes I feel the same way. I don't know what happened but I feel compassion for whatever it is they may be going through.

@Freelanzer Exactly. It is like you want to know how they are but at the same time you might be intruding them. But I still like to have that intention to be there for them.

The behaviour has certainly changed dramatically over the past week and I wonder if I need to worry about my safety, theirs or both.
