Do you see the sign?

Whenever I go to places, I try to be aware of my surroundings, taking notice of things. This photo was taken in one of the domestic airports in this country. It's in the pre-departure area. But mind you, it was cold in there. Lots of a/c and all were working perfectly fine except this one. What could have happened to this a/c that led to its demise? Poor a/c. They should have taken this one down instead of leaving it hanging in there when it's beyond repair. I think the sign was kind of silly though.

I might be beyond repair but it can be replaced instead

They actually don't need to even replace it because several new a/c, both spilt type and floor mounted ones are everywhere in that area. They should just have taken it down.

I agree, that they had to take it down, the sign is silly.

@LadyDuck So I don't actually see the point of putting it up there. That makes the sign a bit odd.

Don't know what was their intention in placing that sign because the truth is, nobody would noticed it wasn't working as it was too cold in there and a lot of a/c's were working well.

@toniganzon Exactly what I thought, without the sign nobody would have noticed.

maybe it is indeed unrepairable, but maybe they didn't want to take down the unit because the space it will expose would be unsightly?

It's a split type a/c as you can see an ether'e not much of space in there except for a small hole where the hose is. And why such a sign? Beyond repair?

@hereandthere There was no need to turn it on in the first place. Without the sign, people won't notice it was broken because it was already too cold in there, too many a/c's and all were working.

@toniganzon maybe if people saw it, they will understand it's no longer repairable, so they'll refrain from asking employees to turn it on.

I agree with you, they should have taken the a/c down.

That sign is rather silly and looks as if it has been up for a long time. Glad it wasn't on your plane!

Hahaha, no way I would ride a plane with that sign on their a/c.

they should have just taken it down. There were a lot of a/c in that area and all were working pretty well.

@JustBhem NOpe. Because under repair means they are fixing it. But they're not. This a/c is simply not working and won't ever be fixed because it is beyond repair. So it should be taken down instead of putting up that sign.

@toniganzon Instead of Beyond Repair, it should be, Under Repair, right?

The staff at my current workplaces often left equipments on some certain benches for some tech guys to fix. Whenever an item is no longer fixable, the tech people would leave a similar note: beyond repair. THEN, it would be the staff of that unit to arrange for a replacement. (protocol )

They don't need to replace the one in the photo because there were a lot of new a/c's and all were in working condition and in fact it was really cold in there.

I doubt people were asking them as the place was really cold. There were a lot of a/c's in there.
