We have military training every autumn when new students come to school here. We used to find instructors in the army to train the students. In recent years, we have begun to train our students' instructors. These are the students selected from the old students. They will take on the training of new students. Dear friends, do the freshmen in your place need to take part in military training?

We have that before in fourth year high school. Though we were just taught how to walk with a wooden rifle and those military walks and ways.

We have many options now a days! We have military training in NCC, Civil Defence, Scouts and Guides, Navy etc. You can opt for any one out of them or you can go for non military subjects like vocational skills! Thanks!

In our schools we generally do not. Those are typically relegated to military academies or ROTC units within certain high schools. I think there is some good that can come from it though, and wish we saw more of it here.

Thank you for sharing, dear friend. This kind of military training can exercise students' body and will. But as far as I know, the students don't like it.

@porwest It is indeed the case. Every participation is their experience. It will become a fortune sooner or later.

@caopaopao Of course they don't. Not now. But in their older years they may look back and appreciate it.

I think it is better for the senior students to train the fresh ones. In fact I don't really like the military training as I saw some negative news about it via the net. Some soldiers are rude and I don't think they are qualified to train students.

@caopaopao I have chosen community service. I dropped my ROTC when I was in my freshman year and waited for the NSTP (comm service) to be approved. And I enrolled NSTP when I was 3rd yr college.

Military training is not mandatory in the US. Students can join ROTC if they like, or join the reserve or National Guard if they want. I was drafted into the army long ago, but we no longer do that.
