I need your opinion of food

Last year I went to the flea market where I bought some nuts that were being sold. These were seasoned and very delicious. I was thinking about making some of my own for us to snack on here and potentially as gift ideas later in the year. However, I can't think of any other way to make them then using brown sugar. I thought about maybe using pumpkin spice (I'm a self confessed pumpkinaholic) but I am not sure what other seasonings I could use. What do you season your pecans, walnuts and cashews with? Do you have a recipe you use to make treats like this? Please Share!

I fry pecans in a little canola oil or butter until done (not burned), then add salt. I also make sugared peanuts. I can send you the recipe if you want to send me a message.

I haven't made my own seasoned nuts before but I have thought about it. You could make them spicy if you like spicy things. Maybe use some cajun seasoning or cayenne pepper. You could use garlic powder, cinnamon, or maybe some nutmeg. Really any seasoning that you like would probably be good. I love cashews, pistachios, almonds, and pecans the best. I can definitely eat a whole can of cashews in one sitting. They are just so good.

I would like the spicy kind but not everyone else would. I do love cashews the most! I am guilty of eating an entire can myself.

@morgoodie I'd also find a half a million other things I don't need. The black hole of pinterest.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Me too and then regretting it later. But I just can't turn them down. I am sure you could find a lot of recipes for them on Pinterest. That's my go to for a recipe.

I most likely will do just that. I think it would make a good present, don't you?

Wow, that sounds delicious! I have never actually done it myself, I just eat what I buy readily made. I'll be watching this thread for ideas!

I think they would make good gifts, don't you? A lot of people give popcorn and candies and cookies but nuts aren't usually a gift.

I like roasting chickpeas in olive oil as they make a tasty snack. However I tend to just buy nuts which have already been 'treated'. I've never attempted to do my own thing with them, which would obviously be far healthier!

I'm not a big fan of chickpeas myself but I bet they would taste good roasted in olive oil. Yes, definitely far more healthier to do it ourselves as we can control how much sugar or spice we add.

I occasionally use nuts for baking but generally I prefer eating them as is right out of the package.

I eat walnuts for breakfast every day. Actually, I snack on them throughout the day but they always start as my breakfast.

@josie_ My favorite is the pecan but walnuts have nutrients in them that I need because of my condition.

I usually buy the store bought kind. The ones that say they have already been roasted or salted etc.

I confess, I have never made a seasoned/spiced nut. But my mother did every holiday season. Another thing I need to learn how to do.

I would also like to do the seasoned chex mix that people do around the holidays. My mother would melt candies into molds and give them as Christmas gifts. She would also do soaps in molds and gift them.

I will eat walnuts and cashews as well. Pecans are probably my favorite though.
