Storms and Downed Trees

Around 2 pm a very strong storm came through, high winds and heavy rainfall. We lost power. It just after 10 pm and we still have no power. I just have a small pine tree down in the driveway, but I can still drive around. I went to check n my sister, the library and to the post office. Things are bad. I have a tree laying on one of my houses, the empty, but thank God it did not break through the roof, no leaks. Another rental, another tree laying over the elderly ladies house, one side but it did not go into the roof either, Thank God! The same tree, half is on my uncle roof but not through it, I thank God. Another rental had a tree in the power line, she was at work I called and told her to report it and I did not know if she had power or not. My sister is so sick, she has been vomiting for 2 days and in the bed, she did not call me and tell me she was sick, I had called to ask a measurement for a curtain to find out and I took her pepto, chicken noodle soup and sprite. I hand fed her the pepto because she couldnt and poured her sprite, she fought me about eating something so I left her alone. We think it was the cantaloupe that all three ate, Tony, my sister and my uncle all were/ are sick. I went and bought my sister bottle of laxative told her to drink half and clear her system, if she is not better my morning I will make her go to the e.r, I also told her that she has to drink a lot of fluids. Tony is 100% better since He did this. Back at home, Tony needed a breathing treatment, but no power, he got worst and worst, I took him to the deck and plugged the device into the solar power unit and gave him his treatment. He didn`t know how it worked, I told him I keep the batteries charged, I have a light burning now that is so bright it lights up the living room and most of the kitchen, I have small solar lights in each bathroom. I bet he won`t fuss about all that solar stuff anymore. I am on battery with the laptop and the wifi device. I am glad tthe temps are down to the 60`s and lower humidity, I have th front door open, Tony is napping. I know I will be working on cleaning up after the storm the next few days. How is everyone doing?

Gosh, that does sound like the storm has created a lot of work for you. I hope your sister recovers and thank heavens you had the solar power organised.

@andriaperry I'm sure it does. We're looking into one for ourselves but it will hook up to the regular supplier as well.

I'm glad those trees didn't flatten your houses. That was a pretty close call. I'll pray for your sister. She sounds really sick. Good thing you didn't partake of the fruit with the rest of them. I guess your solar paid off in more than money.

Oh my goodness, you had plenty of damages, it was a strong storm. I am glad your solar power worked so Tony had his treatment. Everything is fine here, the wind was strong but it only broke some of my tall gladioli.

@andriaperry A lot of noise, thunders and lightning and very strong wind, not many damages.

Sounds pretty bad right now- hope things get better after that storm. Your sister will hopefully get better-- What cantaloupe did she eat?

Yeah, we had a pretty serious storm roll through town yesterday, and we lost power from about 24 hours. Not fun. I hated it, but it never dawned on me something like a breathing treatment being needed and not having the power to do that. Every time the power goes out around it's rarely just for a few hours and I think, I should get a generator. I never do. Might shop for one today. This has just happened way too many times.

@andriaperry It can become more than annoying, that's for sure. I still haven't gotten my generator.

Is this the system you got from Harbor Freight? It sounds as if it is really paying off already. Was this pre cut cantaloupe? You know some fruits are contaminated lately? It gets scary to eat anything you have not grown yourself.
