My Favorite Snack

A while ago, I snacked on that in the picture, we call empanada, my favorite snack. I love eating it though, I don’t eat it often for the snack, because it’s a bit expensive for $.34, being it small. So, I get to buy it only once in a while only.
Today, I bought 3. One for me, for my hubby and another one for my staff.
Can you see the rolled crust on the side around it? That’s what I like so much since it is so crunchy. But of course, the filling inside too – cooked ground pork with some other ingredients is so delicious.
I am a foodie actually. I love all type of foods, but I don’t like exotic foods. My favorites are pizza, fried chicken, burgers, and pasta.
I know, they can make my cholesterol level above the normal level, so I try to control myself. Besides, indulging in these favorite foods often would surely make me big. 
But not , when someone gives a treat of one or two of those favorite foods of mine.

i prefer the soft ones like red ribbon, but they're expensive. i don't seem to like crunchy and breaded stuff anymore. i end up with a sore mouth.

I like the look of that and would much prefer it if it were chicken it looks delicious. I am afraid I do not like pizza that much and never eat burgers.

I tried buying chicken empanada but it wasn't as tasty as the pork empanada. You will surely love the pork empanada here.
Let me guess why you never eat burgers. You are afraid, it might raise your bp and cholesterol above the normal level?

You too, have concerns with cholesterol level? But I see that you are still too young to be having the cholesterol problem.
So, you also love fried chicken.
For two consecutive days last week, I ate fried chicken for my meals. Though, it's from different cooks. One is McDo, the others are from our lunch supplier at the office, then that night my hubby's fried chicken. The next day for lunch, from Chowking and that night from another fast food joint.
But still I ate with so much appetite.

I ate Empanada but I'm not totally a fan. I almost eat all types of food even the exotic one.

I ate frog legs when I was a kid. And haven't tried any other exotic cuisines.

I used to like it when I was still eating pork. I had this store where I frequent just to buy a dozen of those.
I remember my mom liked it a lot too when we were young. It was always present during parties in our house.

So at least, you have tasted it before you stopped eating pork. Actually, I have tasted the chicken empanada, but pork is so much tastier.

@SIMPLYD Jamaican Patties from malls are baked I think. Also if you have an oven you can do them at home.

Yes. So, it's so crispy and delicious.
ACtually, our company driver has to drive to Daraga, the town next to here, just to but this. He has to buy about more than 70 pieces excluding me and my officemates' order for the Players day of our E-Bingo.

We are compatible when it comes to empanada, I love the potato and green peas inside, some even come with special sauce, at times I walk around the mall eating empanada

A very big SM Department store is being constructed now here in Legazpi City. It will open on September. What store sells that, so I will search for it when SM opens.

@SIMPLYD I want mine hot so I put tabasco or red devil sauce.
Lately I'm crazy with Jamaican pattie, it's similar to empanada but the crust is thinner and you can get to choose from several fillings like ground beef with cheese, their " Pinatubo" flavor is really hot, around 40 pesos here at SM Southmall, i do not know if your SM has a branch there, in fact I just finished one in bed while mylotting, Sorry but I only have the wrapper to show to you

I like to have a taste of that empanada from Ilocos. I have watched Magandang Buhay and they featured how empanada from Ilocos are made. It made me drool and made me want one actually when I watch that one. They put raw egg inside then fry it.

@SIMPLYD I can see how you would get hungry at that time of day. When I taught school we got out at 3:10 or so. If I wasn't going directly home, I'd eat a banana in the car to tide me over until dinner time.
Not to worry. I do indulge in salty snacks a lot! Last night, I had the most decadent dessert ever!

@SIMPLYD they are vegetables..Mostly potatoes or seasonal veggies like cauliflower. wrapped in dough and fried. A common and inexpensive popular snack.
There are special meat filled ones and other exotic stuffing ones too but not so common

@Jessabuma Oh, those ! They are delicious indeed, but too expensive. We have a very delicious siopao from a Chines restaurant. It's only for 28 pesos and so delicious and the dough, so soft to eat.
