The Twins

In one of my last workplaces, there was a set of twins in their late 40s. Quite interesting seeing both men wearing similar clothes, having similar hairstyle & beards etc. Until the day I left, I still couldn't figure out which one was which. (I did try to guess but I always guessed wrong, so in the end, I just gave up.) In my current workplace, I met another set. A peculiar case. It was my second day there some weeks ago when the door of my office suddenly got opened. In came this attractive happy 40ish brunette with a gorgeous smile, welcoming me to the company. Soon after, she cheerfully dragged me to the staff room to sing happy birthday to someone there. She then carried out some sort of conversation with me, exchanging our personal details while trying to introduce me to other senior staff there. That same afternoon before going home, I met a hostile woman who slightly resembled the happy one. We didn't really talk much with each other but the lady was very condescending and in a few words, cut me down to size then ignored me completely in a very rude manner. I went home that night, puzzled and a bit hurt that I was treated like that by a stranger whom I had never met before. The next working day, after checking the group photo of all the staff in that company, I was very glad to meet the cheerful & very friendly one again. I asked her for her name and got a shock of my life: she and the hostile one happened to be the same. Fancy that! Have you ever encountered such a situation or person? What do you think really happen there in my story? I have been extra careful with that lady since. Something is definitely wrong there but I don't know what... The lady has reverted back to 101% sweet and lovely since however.

I have known twins, and there was always the twin with the better personality. At least she has been sweet since, but I’d keep it professional.

@DianneN I have some sets of twins as relatives. One set here, the rivalry was a bit bad when they were children. They would switch actually, from best friends to best enemies. Now that they are heading for middle age, they sort of ignoring each other. Quite interesting.

I have a set of twin cousins, who were brought up wearing the same clothes, and having the same hair cuts.. even though they didn't exactly look like twins. now they look even less like twins, and don't do anything of the same really. we have all ran into nice turned mean people, or vice versa. plus it could've just been someone pissed her off or something, but that is strange..

@Courtlynn cute, the way both work for the same company too. (They are very similar. They told me to look for the difference in their beards, but how could I! )

This is the funny part about that set of twins, I heard and couldn't stop grinning a bit... The oldest married first, the second followed a year later. The oldest one divorced after a decade, the second one divorced too, a year after his brother. The oldest one re-married, the second one followed soon after. The oldest one chose engineering, the younger did the same... Don't you think that that was interesting?

I've only seen a pair of twins when they were together, so I knew what was going on. Later I could see the differences, it probably helped I fell in love with one of the two. Then that lady is just one, with double personality, I guess.

Sounds like a personality disorder.

I wish I could observe that lady more before finishing my contract with that company. BUT at the same time, I feel so uncomfortable seeing her two personalities like that. It doesn't sound normal somehow. (Put it this way, I am scared of her since the last time, I didn't know how to deal with her hostility.)

Hi Darcy. So that person one and the same? How can she change in just a snap? Wow. Multiple personalities.

Not really in the same hour, but let say that that was in the same day. She has since acted really sweet like she never acted differently. A very unusual case!

@YrNemo It is an unusual case. But at the same time scary. She is unpredictable but that one is really something.

I don't really know. Perhaps she forgot to act sweet to me when there was another staff around? I don't know but I am sure I don't want to understand this lady thouroughly. She scared me.
