My Life Just Got Easier

I just got up from an hour and a half nap. I was falling asleep on the keyboard. I was up at 2:20 this morning. And in the pool by 5. In this heat, 69F already at 2:30 this morning, and going up with 90% humidity, the pool felt awesome! When I turned on the computer, Microsoft had some tips on the opening screen. A couple months ago, Microsoft started a points thing you can turn to cash or other things. It takes a lot of points to do so though. However, when I turned it on, I clicked on a link that said something to the effect of starting where I left off when I left the computer. Doing so, I found several things that will help me big time. The first set of tips I opened showed me how I can make videos in photos. If I can make a video, I can promote my books. The second set of tips showed me how I can simply dictate my writing instead of using the keyboard. That too will be a huge help with my books. My life just got better. I always wanted to be able to speak it, not just type it, and it showed me how to do the punctuation. Simple. Hey, I might even start dictating my blogs. Who knows. It would sure help with typos. I hope. Anyway, that's what made me super happy just now. Do you know about these tips and all you can do with Windows 10? I'll be doing more exploring of those tips in the coming days. Thanks for reading.

Hi Valerie. My laptop is also using Windows 10 but I have not navigated its features yet.

@just4him I agree. I have my husband do that for me but he is too busy with his work and games. So I think I left with myself to do that.

Yes you can do a lot with Windows 10 but for me I prefer simplicity and doing things the old fashioned way. But for those who need the extra tools it is great to have access to them.

@just4him I know it's possible to use studio on both the older programs and the phones but I have yet to try.

Yes, it is. I've always wanted a way to dictate my books. Now, I see it's possible.

That's really awesome. I have yet to figure out how to create a blog. Is it expensive to maintain one?

I was referring to blogging here, but no, I do have a blog site, and it's easy to maintain. I just need to be there more than I currently am.

oh silly me @just4him I forgot that people think of this as a blog. For me this isn't a blog because, from what I understand, if I have my own blog I wouldn't have the same kinds of restricted rules as they have here.

@rebelann I use Weebly and am still subject to the rules of the site. Though content wise, I can post anything I want.

Good if it can help you. I am still using the old Window 7 and have no intention of changing.

I love Windows 7, but when I got my new computer two years ago now, I found it was easy to learn and I love it.

@Courtlynn I turned mine on in the middle of the night. I just now turned it off. It had gotten so cold in here my heat came on I turned the thermostat down further and it's off once again.

I don't want to look at what it is now, but the breeze coming in my window feels great. I thought I would need the A/C today, but not with this breeze. It's a warm breeze, but it's a breeze. I'm looking forward to trying the dictation to see how easy it is.

I didn't know about this stuff. I don't do much with Windows, though, other than the internet though.

If you don't do much other than the Internet, you really don't need the extras, though photos you do need the Internet for.

@NJChicaa ? I'm lost in that comment. Do you only use the computer at work? Then what about myLot - yes, I really don't understand that comment.

90% of humidity! That would be too much together with heat. But, I am glad to hear that you got some helpful tips you can use!

@just4him Yes, I live on an island (the Canarian Islands). Here, in the south, the climate is very mild and the temperatures during the year oscillate between 18ºC in Winter and 28ºC in Summer. It rains maybe twice a year. And the area is sandy and dry. It's different in the northern part of the island. There, it rains very often during winter time, so more humidity, of course, and colder.

Those sound like some interesting tips. Even dictating. Not sure if that would totally work for me. When I write it tends to be different than when I talk.

It always is when it comes to writing a story. I don't talk the same as I write, but dictating for the book should be the same as writing.

@porwest When I'm in writing mode, my 'voice' is what it needs to be for the book I'm working on.

@just4him For some reason my writing changes from speaking to thinking and typing. Not sure why that is for me.

I don't use Windows 10. I am fast with typing and it goes in sync with my thoughts, so I never needed to explore these things. But it sounds good and promising. I am glad that you are happy and your life has become easier.

I don't use Windows 10, but the keyboard on my tablet does speech to text. The problem I have is that I type my thoughts faster than I can say them and it's much easier to backspace to change something I have typed when I change my mind halfway through a sentence. I think I am more eloquent in type than I am in speech, probably a result of having spent so many years speaking to children. I am a little surprised that raising my kids didn't reduce me to pointing and grunting by now.

It's amazing what we can do as we grow older and our children are no longer around. That would be a problem if you type faster than speak.

I don't because I don't have Win 10. It would probably use too much data here. However, I probably should get it sometime I just don't want all my data gone.

Windows doesn't have anything to do with the Internet, that's a separate entity. I have no problems with my games on my PC. I do if I use the wrong browser for them. There's one game I play that can't be played on Chrome and I must use Firefox, but neither of those have anything to do with Windows.
