Tomato Sandwich for lunch

So, most of my life, I never really had a tomato sandwich. The closest we would get would be BLT's which I love, but roomie told me that he had cultivated a love of tomato sandwiches growing up, as his dad liked them. Where is the protein I thought? However, Two pieces of white bread, fresh tomato slices, mayo, heaven on a plate. I did have mine with lettuce, and since I had a bacon slice I put that in there too..but not necessary at all. Tomato sandwich anyone?

Lots of vitamin C..Roomie told me he even had Subway make one for him..but they don't have very good tomatoes there..homemade with your own tomatoes is best I think.

@snowy22315 Fresh ones. I'll happily eat pico de gallo or bruschetta but I don't like them on sandwiches, in salads, etc. I love tomato sauce on pasta, though.

That sounds so good. I used to make them with a slice or two of cheese.

I like tomatoes on open bread, well, it's an Italian bruschetta. You toast the bread, sprinkle with a little olive oil, load with tomatoes slices, salt and pepper and eat.

Yes, I have eaten that too and it is good. Maybe I will make some when my tomatoes get bigger. One or two of them are just starting some blossoms.

@snowy22315 I think that my tomatoes will be ready in a couple of weeks. This year there are plenty on the plants, more than last year.

@snowy22315 Especially if they are from your garden. There's no sandwich like a home grown tomato sandwich.

Yes please. I love tomato sandwiches, but I have to use Miracle Whip instead of mayo. Gotta have that tangy zip. We used to put a piece of American cheese on it too. Another sandwich we used to eat is dill pickle and cheese. Yummy!!!

@snowy22315 It's a weird combo but a very tasty one. I will eat them without the cheese as well.

If I have tomato on a sandwich you better believe bacon is going to be there too. I can give or take the lettuce.

I would say a club is my favorite sandwich. They aren't always easy to find in these parts or to make either.

I never had a sandwich like that. I like to have lunch meat, so turkey or ham with tomato would be nice. No mayo though, I don't feel like dying.

dying? You would be more likely to die from the nitrates in lunchmeat.

Great and healthy one! This is where we are also lucky to live in Baguio Benguet where organic farming is promoted. We can also do our own mini gardens and well, we have enjoyed our tomatoes, lettuce, beans, and otger veggies all home grown. Its amazing.

That sounds like a simple and light meal. It's not something I would particularly enjoy as I do not love the texture of tomatoes. I prefer to use a spread of tomato puree.
