Bird Of Paradise ~ A Movie Review

I like vintage movies. This one was made in 1951 and was about 100 minutes in length. It stars Louis Jordan as Andre, Debra Paget as Kalua, and Jeff Chandler as Tenga. About a young man(Jordan) who travels with his college friend to his Hawaiian island home with him. He falls for his friend's sister, Kalua, but he can't even talk to her until the king makes her available to men. It follows the culture of the Polynesian people with their kind hearts and many customs. Kalua and Andre marry but it is barren of children. The holy man feels that the eruption of a nearby volcano is a bad sign and he feels that it can only be appeased by the sacrifice of Kalua. Such a romantic and sweet story.

I like older movies as well but I'm not so sure I would like this one.
One of my all time favorites it the 1940's adaptation of "And Then There Were None." It's on amazon right now and so I might just have to watch it again.

@celticeagle Yes so do I. I will watch a movie over and over again.
I have one movie that I put on in the background when I want noise but don't want to be too engrossed in something.
