When I was taking my pictures at the park a few days ago I saw someone flying a kite. There was quite a breeze, so it was perfect kite weather. Do you like to fly kites? Did you ever fly a kite? If so, do you prefer the simple kites or the stunt kites that have more than one string? How long has it been since you've flown a kite? I haven't actually flown a kite since I was a child. I didn't often have much success in getting it into the air. How about you?

May be as a kid I would have. Here in India there are kite festivals and even celebrities are seen in those events.

@bagarad There are no events where I live and no one flies kites in my circle I cannot possibly be seen on my terrace flying a kite solo (lol)

So if you saw @allknowing flying a kite on her terrace, would you consider her undignified?

Its been over 20 years now. I taught the boys how to do it when they were growing up. But that is the last time.

@rakski Just wondered. Some people find it frustrating if they can't get the kite to fly as they wish.

I don't fly kites. They have Kite Nights weekly in July and August here where I live, though. My family goes to them. My sister and our friends with kids like to bring them. The grandparents go, well, just because. . .

Most of the people I see fly kites do it on the beaches where there is more breeze. Sometimes whole families turn out to take turns flying the kites.

Where did you fly your kite? In the street? A park? At the beach?

Your post reminds me that I have a kite my son gave me as a gift and I only flew it once. Time to take it out again and this may be a good weekend for it.

Sounds like a plan and it might make your son happy. Let us know how it goes.

It's been a few years since I flew a kite with my grandchildren in the park where they live. I did get it off the ground, and had a good kite flying day. Nice picture.

Good for you. I'm sure the grandchildren enjoyed it, too. Maybe someday I'll try it again and see if I can get it off the ground on a windy day. Just to show @allknowing I don't care what people think. Maybe I can find some child in the park to show me how it's done. On the other hand, getting a kite would just be one more thing cluttering up the garage -- if it survived my trying to fly it. There are lots of kite-eating trees in the park.

@bagarad Yes, there are. Best thing is to steer away from them. Find a nice open area best suited for kite flying.

I've mostly watched others fly them. Some are into kite-flying in a big way.

Every time I have flown a kite I have had a bad experience. I remember my stepbrother having to run a mile into someone's backyard to get a kite my half-brother lost. It was crazy.
