Do you try natural medicine techniques first to relieve ailments or do you go straight to the doctor for treatment? Some health practicioners swear some herbs or vitamins are effective remedies for certain conditions. How do you feel about these claims? Do you know of any effective natural medicines or treatments which work on ailments? One I have used is the Aloe plant for burns. Cut the stem, squeeze out the aloe liquid from it, put it on a burn site. Not only soothes but aids in the healing process. Photo- middleage.org

That's good to know. The only natural one I know and use is honey and lemon for a cold.

@dgobucks226 Tried and true doesn't work for me. I'm allergic to chicken.

I heard of that one, also soothes sore throats. And of course the tried and true Chicken soup, lol.

If the burn is a minor burn the aloe (more or less) works, but it also works keeping the burnt part under running water for 20 minutes. I had a serious burn last year and I needed to go to the ER.

@dgobucks226 This is what the doctor told me, when I reached the ER they immediately put my hand under running water.

Oh yes, more serious burns require emergency treatment. And the cold running water is best for that initially, thanks Anna.

@rebelann Depends on what you consider to be a healthy diet? We might find some common ground. Diets are not absolutes. One size does not fit all

My capillaries are fragile. I often have a nosebleed. I have been to a lot of hospitals, none of them cured my nosebleed. Then I found a folk prescription in a book. It did cure my nosebleed. Just a few cloves of garlic. It's amazing.

I am a sucker for natural health remedies for minor problems. There are so many natural remedies here, word of mouth that it would take pages and pages to fill. There is a plant called dupor tenga which is recommended for flushing out kidney stones

I think there is a time and place for natural cures. I know that cranberry juice and plenty of water is helpful in the case of bladder infection. I know that lavender oil *which can be diluted in olive oil * can fade a sun burn and help with allergies.

Of course, major illnesses require professional treatment. Yes I responded to your post about baking soda. Some natural healing sites claim honey is effective in treating minor skin infection/cuts by fighting bacteria. Nice to know what one thinks about natural healing remedies. Thanks for your input.

After having tried so many things over the years, my doubts keep growing. These days, I work on prevention. I use natural doctors such as: Doctors water, nutrition, sunshine, sleep, exercise, positive thinking, etc.

That is a very nice discussion topic. I knew a lady who made extra money selling Aloe products. I hear many people drink a special mixture that contains it.
